Default Warning VSC Off

LS430 2002. I have a warning light saying VSC OFF. This does not seem to make a difference to the ride and the manual says it is safe to drive
but get it checked at service. I have booked a service but fear a big bill. Does anybody out there have/had a similar experience.
I do very low milage (golf club and back) and wonder whether to just ignore it and get the garage to disengage the warning signal.
Would welcome the experience and recommendation of the Forum.

VSC is vehicle stability control, a system to help wheels from slipping. A web search will explain its function and the inputs it gets. It is a little bit involved. So, check out the web.
Sometimes the system gets an erroneous signal from a sensor which triggers the light. Sometimes a loose gas cap can cause a VSC light (part of the evaporative system) so make sure it is on tight.
A simple way to reset the system is to disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery for about 15 minutes.
Then reconnect it. The light should be OFF. If the fault still exists, it will come back ON after a number of miles, I think 75 miles or so. Then you take it to a knowledgeable mechanic.
This has worked for me on my 2005. I am no mechanic. Others may have an input.

Default VSC Off

Paulanth. Very much appreciate your reply. I.ll see what happens. Somebody else mentioned the filler cap, I thought they were pulling my leg
but I have since found out it is a valid possibility ... Alrose
