Yes, I'm aware of that. But, if Buick is aiming for production and sales starting in early-2021, chances are they have already finalized both the interior and exterior. They have to schedule and verify the parts-delivery from their contractors and sub-contractors months in advance.

I don’t agree. Why do you think early production versions of new cars sit on turntables at auto shows with signs “Keep Off”? They don’t want the public peering at the non-production interior.

which is definitely the case in the test mule pics you posted.

They may have parts contracts in place, but that doesn’t mean they have a final fully assembled interior to display to the public yet.

Well, we'll find out in a few months. We probably aren't going to settle that question right now.

I still like the exterior even if the interior is up in the air right now.

Made in China! Gm should keep it there. It's time we boycott anything coming into the US from China when we have a choice. GM needs to bring those jobs back.

Ha. Totally agree. Just wait till Tesla starts importing Chinese made models. But, back to Buick GM builds the Lacrosse is China, why couldn’t they export the Detroit made Lacrosse when it was still being built in America?

Are you going to ditch your cell phone and replace it with one made in USA?

better looking than any other Buick ever made IMO.

Does it look special?? no, but the Pontiac Aztec looked special/unique and where did that get it?

I think it looks better than the RAV4....but..................I'd never buy it if it's made it China.

if you read my comment , I said when there is a choice. Samsung is a logical choice however, except for Apple fanboys.

Apparently GM did not learn its lesson (bring jobs back home) from the big strike last year. Might be time for the UAW to start organizing again....and this time for UNIFOR to join. Only problem is where the strike is actually going to come from........few workers are actually working anyway, because of the pandemic.

Apple could make their iPhones in the US if they really wanted to. Problem is, they have outsourced their manufacturing to cheap Chinese labor which just saves tons of money and then goes to the top execs

but that will be overlooked, because, well... "Elon"

because UAW labor costs, import tariffs, etc. make that not feasible.

that's a low bar.

agree it looks better, and as for buying a china made one, wouldn't bother me because let's face it, 90% of hard good we buy are already made in china.

it goes to lots of things... yes, the execs make a pile because they made the company make that pile so good for them, it's called capitalism. but all their employees are very well compensated, and building the 'ring' in silicon valley must have been insanely expensive (and now probably largely empty since COVID!).

It's not just the labor that saves $$. Are you ready to pay $2,000 for your next American made iPhone?

Buick has a long history in China.....Lot of different products are made there.....Bet you have a few products made there. Times change, heck I can remember my mother mentioning different products made in Japan in the 60's.

It seems a few here aren't concerned with the trade imbalance that exists with China and the US. China is not our friend, look at the Covid virus. Most products consumed in the US are made in China today. One example that is serious is that most of the medications bought by US citizens are made in China. What would happen if China decided to hold back on exporting them to the US? It's time we brought back production to the US and buy non Chinese made products when we have a choice. Our country's future depends on it.

U.S. tariffs don't apply to vehicles made with UAW labor. They apply only to vehicles made outside American borders.

that's a low bar.
Subjective, of course, so there is no right or wrong answer...but some would disagree.

There actually was a Buick Special made for many years....it was the entry-level sedan/coupe.

As for everyday hard goods, most of us have little choice. That made-in-China merchandise is just about all you can find in the stores.

Most of us here on Car Chat believe in capitalism, but within some reasonable bounds. When you have CEO's making some 400 times (+/-) what the average company employee makes, that, IMO, is not reasonable bounds. Don't forget, it's the average everyday employees that keep a company humming and those lucrative pay/benefit packages possible for the execs. The hands that feeds you deserve some of the pie....currently, a lot of them are just getting a small piece of the crust, and little or none of the pie-filling.
