Toyota vs Lexus.

I agree the Landcruiser does not make sense in the NA market. What they need is a redesigned Sequoia and equivalent Lexus version. They need a truly full size SUV that is luxurious. They need a good engine, probably the rumored hybrid, but it must be competitive.

Maybe they just realize that full size is just not for them.
Very true.
Kodak ruled for so long, and look at them now?
Ten years ago, Canon was selling more cameras than ALL their competitors added together.
Ten years ago, Canon was making more money that ALL their competitors added together.
However, look at Canon now?
dSLR's are being replaced by mirrorless cameras, and Sony is doing well.
Even bit had to off-load his 5DIV.
Never say never.
That's why as bad as Tesla may manufacture and assemble, I never rule out Tesla.
Presently, Toyota Motor Corp still doing very well.
Meanwhile a spate of new Lexus models coming in the next few years.
Based on Japanese Mag-X, sounds like IS will get a major facelift in a few months, and then be totally replaced by a BEV in a few years, while the midsize GS will be a reskinned Mazda premium midsize RWD platform with a 48V mild-hybrid 3.0 in-line six...

Domestically in Japan, while they can make these cars, they are questioning why cave in to such trends just on moral grounds.
Also, are you the morality police? If someone wants a large SUV who cares? The point is that there is a market for it and they are not competitive.
i care because obnoxious vehicles should be best left for brands like GMC. Toyota will stick to everyday cars being a brand from a reserved culture.
line. They aren’t out to change the world they’re a business out to make profit.
The proof is that they do indeed make these vehicles, if they were so against them on “moral grounds” they never would have developed a large Lexus SUV, or a full sized pickup, or all the other big vehicles they make. Issue is they don’t offer very compelling products in those segments, but they offer them.
That attitude by the way just makes me want to go out and buy the biggest most “obnoxious” vehicle I can find. Worry about yourself and your own choices.

What anybody “needs” is beside the point. The majority of people buy vehicles well beyond what they actually need, they buy what they want.
Toyota/Lexus’ issue is they don’t have a lot
of vehicles right now that meet peoples wants.

just because there is a market for something doesn’t mean it should be met. If you think just because a $1 can made then it should be made then you’re loosing the plot and part of the me me me culture.

I think your perspective is jaded. Believe what you want. Customer preference is what matters. If you don’t agree, then buy something else. What’s obnoxious is your POV and how if someone doesn’t agree with you then you are derogatory towards their preferences. I will agree to disagree with you.
Uh, no lol. Toyota builds cars people buy, bottom

When people buy them to add to their garage and drive to their neighbours BBQ, then it just shows how culture influence people’s decision making ability to a huge degree.
