Thought I'd start a thread about Bring A Trailer auctions. I find it fun to browse the various auctions that are going on daily. Mods, please let me know if this violates any forum rules.
While it started as super obscure vehicles, many of which could need an actual trailer to be picked up, it has since broadened to vehicles that are fairly common, but still unique in certain ways.
I've bid on several in the past but haven't won anything. And the cars that go on here typically sell for a BaT premium.
Here's a fun one to watch this week. a 6-speed manual Acura Legend Coupe. quite clean overall. I'm not affiliated with this auction or site, I just thought it would be a fun running topic with whatever anyone finds on the listings.
Occasionally I follow BAT auctions. How they list it and the detail they go into describing the vehicle and history is makes an entertaining read and captures your interest. You can learn so much on what to do and not to do if you were to sell a car on your own. Eg, many are super clean with no wonky accessories or personal effects. Too often we see listings showing personal junk, cables, beads, or car seats that sends a message of keep on looking, nothing to see here.
Some high priced items do have an unusual bidding activity involved. You do not know what the reserve and the comments for a vehicle create an entertaining discussion background.
regardless, BAT does serve a unique purpose for those highly cared for cars or some cars that are brought back to life with up to date maintenance. It does have a leg up on the 'carstory' details over auction sites with real people behind it. However, the experience is somewhat tainted when you have some 'dealer' sellers in the mix where they may try to sell hard to find cars there with a more global audience as an alternative to their own dealer lot.
I also like that site - occasionally I keep an eye on vintage Land Cruisers, old SL Mercedes, and old LS 400's. That Acura you posted is beautiful - I used to love the manual transmission Legend coupe. Cool car back then, cooler now.
