Lexus UX naming gaffe?
Easy, now.
That was my first impression of it, too, when I saw the way they designed the interior, its quirkiness, the materials they used, and how cramped it was inside for an SUV. But, once I actually test-drove it, particularly the AWD Hybrid F-Sport model, I was quite impressed with its road-manners, which put the somewhat larger and more expensive NX to shame. I found the NX to be the opposite of the UX....its interior not as cramped or quirky as the UX, but the road manners significantly worse.

Agreed, its too downmarket for the Lexus brand, these vehicles (in my eyes) dilute the "premiun-ness" of the luxury brands message. Not just the Lexus UX either, there's also the 1 series BMW, X1 BMW, X2 BMW, Mercedes CLA, Mercedes GLA, Mercedes GLB, and marginally the Audi A3 range. I understand Acura having the ILX, but thats because they're not really considered a luxury brand even though they try.

All brands have downmarket stuff. Lexus needs a V12...
I wouldn't be surprised. And totally agreed on a V-12 Lexus, because they need more products like the LS and LC to help foster the upmarket message. Mercedes have cheap stuff, but on the other hand they also have Pullman S-Classes, AMG G-Wagons, AMG GT's rolling around. Put the V-12 into the LX570, create a much better interior and let it compete with the G-Wagon. It may not sell much, but I have to believe it'll have a long term effect on sales of stuff like ES's, RX's and NX's.

Mercedes sells work vans and passenger mini vans with the Metris, so maybe Lexus needs their own minivan, call it the MX350. Also, I have always said they should have a Tundra based Lexus pick up truck.
Hey, don't blame yourself. I did not post what I did to try and make you feel bad or regret your decision....I don't operate that way.
We have all made automotive decisions that we wish we hadn't.....myself included. Only, unlike you, I made those mistakes back when the American auto industry was producing lemons of a kind that today's owners can't even begin to imagine. You may not like the NX (I don't either), but at least it is reliable. Hey, don't blame yourself. I let other people talk me out of what I knew was probably the vehicle I needed to get. Each time I brought the UX up all I got was "Ewww... don't get that". Payment would have been slightly higher on the UX than the NX. Insurance rates were exactly the same. But I can probably guarantee at 327 miles on the odometer I wouldn't be on my 3rd tank of gas with an average of 13.6 mpg. My daily/weekly average commute just doesn't add up for a turbocharged CUV. I need the best mpg on regular gas that I can get and this NX definitely ain't it.
