2UZ 4.7 Toyota/Lexus engine was the best V8 ever made.
Ahh Jill I can’t agree. Only because it wasn’t powerful enough. 100 series LCs and LXs are dog slow. The 4 Runner you had with it probably had some pep though.

hence why my ideal 100 series is a 2006 or 2007 since those were the only years where vvt-i was included on the 2UZ, power increased by like 40+ hp over previous years and broadened torque across the whole rev range
for that reason i don't think the 3UZ 'qualifies' considering it gained a total of 0 hp in 6 years with no real revisions whatsoever, a 2006 LS is slower than a 1998 LS

No it isn’t faster. It doesn’t have the gearing to jump off the line like the late 430s do. Or the torque.
3UZ took a near perfect engine and made it better, that’s why I picked it.
And agree on the 100 series vvt-i upgrade. Still wouldn’t be quitttte enough but I’m sure around town it had all the power it needed and felt good.

My pick is the 4.3 UZ.
I just figure that the 4.7 is even smoother and more vibration free. It’s bolted to the frame and never touches the body. Sewing machine smooth. But yes, we had a 01 LX once...it was slow. My 4R 04 is quick.
which took several years for the engineers to address
The engineers knew what the problem was before the first engine was assembled.
The Buick V8 has (as common) 90° bank angle, which means the "odd fire" V6 with no correction has irregular firing intervals.
That's because when the 3.8 was first developed in the early 1960s, the company took the quick, cheap way out by simply cutting off two of the 5.0L (300-cubic-inch) V8's cylinders.....which, of course, produced a V6 with a V8's 90-degree angle. It wasn't the best of configurations at first, partly for reasons which have already been explained, but, over the years, evolved into an excellent product.

I think the UZ would be the smoothest in the LS by design. But yes truck buyers also got a silky smooth experience. Those trucks still have very good reputations.
