Gonna make a prediction here. I fully expect Lexus to increase their warranty covered to 5 years. As well as Toyota moving to 4 years. But the end of 2020
Last year, Toyota Australia went from 3/100km to 5/unlimited, so it got me thinking. Lexus Australia stays 4/100km
I think as vehicle prices and technology keeps increasing as well as competitors have gotten better, I think Toyota will be forward thinking here. They recently moved their hybrids to a longer term.
In the 1980s, the warranty was 1 years 12,000 miles for some brands. Toyota and Honda included

5 year warranties are nothing new. Chrysler had a 5/50 drivetrain warranty back in the early/mid 1960s......it was a major selling point at a time when Ford and GM were 2/24.
I highly doubt it. Lexus doesn't need to sell their reliability or convince customers of it. The brands that need work or to instill customer confidence are the ones who give the long warranties.
If the brand needs anything, it's fresh product and aggressive lease deals.
I don't see increasing warranties as a move for Toyota/Lexus. Especially as leasing continues to tick upwards. And the hybrid warranty extensions was solely for the battery I believe,
