Honesty goes a long way with police. People lie to their faces all day, so if you're honest & humble they let you off.
I couldn't imagine being a cop in a country where the media constantly accuses you of being the bad guy. It truly is a thankless job.
apart from things like directing traffic if a light is out or getting someone to move out of the left lane, i really can't think of a single time when a police presence has improved a situation for me... and i can think of many times where police being there ruined an otherwise harmless thing and/or even made a situation more dangerous... especially cops who sit in a blacked out car with the lights off waiting to catch 'speeders' are just glorified tax collectors and serve no purpose other than to make revenue to pay for that equipment in the first place
also with your profile picture being what it is, i'm gonna have to assume everything you say has at least some underlying trolling purpose that's waiting to fully manifest itself lol
but if he would've had the car impounded then he'd be a screw-up right?
That has nothing to do with your statement. You said that traveling at 140 is a screw-up, regardless of whether he's penalized for it or not. But to answer your question, I'd definitely call getting the car impounded a screw-up, because I'm sure that wasn't his intention.
I'm saying that the act of traveling at 140 for the purpose of datalogging is not a screw-up because he was doing it with a purpose in mind. It's very different from a "classic Mustang screw-up".

yes, going 140mph on a public highway blowing right by cars is being a screw-up IMO. If somebody had changed lanes in front of him we'd be reading about his death and other the other driver/passengers death.
If don't give a crap if he was datalogging or racing - do it on a track!

You're taking it out of context at this point. All I'm saying is that the act of going that fast was not a screw-up in the context of this thread because it was the driver's intention. Now, if he lost control of the car (at any speed), you could call that a screw-up as that would not have been his intention.
Either way, personally, I'm in complete agreement with you WRT going that fast on a public roadway, especially with other people in the lane right beside you.

If I were really lame and thought it would do something I'd research that cop's badge number and complain, but I'm not and I won't.
I have had so many BS tickets in my life yet this guy lets off a motorcycle going 140??????? The cop should have thrown that guy in jail.
Also, being nice to police doesn't guarantee they will be also.
I'm always way nicer than I usually am, doesn't do squat.
I still can't get over the window tint ticket I got....like, if I were SPEEDING and he wrote me that plus the tint, I would get it. But I was going under the speed limit; just a regular tax payer going on vacation. So this is a warning, be careful in rural Georgia down I-75 because the cops are awful. Traps everywhere.
There was a Mustang vs. Supra vid floating around a few years back, Funny as hell. Looks like they were leaving a car show. Mustangs were having a hell of a time staying on the road after burnouts while the Supra's maintained traction.
Great vid.

Yes, I remember seeing that video, though I couldn't find it to post. Part of the difference is the vehicles themselves (the Supra, of course, is a lot more sophisticated)...but part of it is the fact that there are so many immature people driving high-powered Mustangs trying to show off.
