Sorry...might have gotten a little off-track. Anyhow, we were talking about GM doing things the European way. S2000toIS350 (apparently) felt the new Corvette needed a Euro-style engine without pushrods. I used the smaller Buicks/Opels to point out an example of GM already doing some things the Euro-way, though I didn't think that the average Corvette buyer (who is strongly conservative, automotively-speaking) would necessarily want them to go in that direction with the Corvette. And, of course, Opel was sold off.....so the new Regal may (?) be the last of the Opel-sourced Buicks we see.

The pushrod corvette engine is awesome. Anyone who has driven one will agree.

I never said it wasn't awesome

It just lives outside the norms of the current supercar parade

if the General wants to play vs Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, etc. a DOHC mill is on the checklist

I feel like this will be similar to the current Corvette, amazing performance, but not real great to look at.

Yep, and heck, any GM pushrod V8 in general is awesome. My old '03 Yukon has the older 5.3L with 285hp, loves to rev and sounds great doing it. It's got some pep to it, too, at speeds around town at least.

I would kill to drive a new Yukon or Escalade with the monster 6.2. Seriously considering dropping the planned GX460 as our next vehicle for one of those, taking the reliability hit and all, just to get a GM truck with that engine.

I gotta say this new Corvette if priced close to the C7 will be very impressive and appealing.

NSX, Supra better take notes....

A corvette forum user is claiming to have inside info in regards to pricing and the car being revealed at NAIAS. Needless to say the pricing discussion isn't going too well.

C8 will be at NAIAS 2019

$169,900, final price confirmed

For what version? Base or a higher spec? I knew it wouldn't be $55,900 like the C7, but was hoping for $110,000. Can't wait to see what Ferrari and Lamborghini have to say. Bring on the C8, 488, Huracan, NSX, R8 comparison test!

As long as it can fit two fold up lawn chairs for the 75 year old men and their wives who buy Corvettes. You know how Corvette owners love their cruise in car shows.
