Default BMW is pulling a Lexus...

Here's what the G80 M3 will look like based on insider info and our analysis of the spy photos!

Back in March, BMW insider Scott26 confirmed that the G80 M3 and G82 M4 will share front ends featuring larger and taller kidney grilles -- a la BMW Vision Dynamics Concept.

Recent G80 spy photos have also revealed the expected radical new front end and kidney grille styling. Here's a tracing of the styling cues seen through the camouflage (by member Mii).

What are your thoughts on their new design direction? It kind of reminds me of the Alfa Romeo Giulia at first glance but I don't hate it. It's very different though and will take some time to get used to. Good or bad, it's nice to see BMW shaking things up a bit. I think it'll grow on me.

I always cringe at first but then the design grows on me somehow.

I immediately thought Alfa Romeo too. Gotta be honest, I kind of like the renderings. Those kidney tombstones are unique

I like it, in a weird bucktooth beaver kind of way but rumors are it will have around 500 HP which in German terms means to the wheels.

As usual, I am the opposite of the majority. It looks like absolute dog crap! Also, has BMW ever redesigned the M3 body that far off the standard model? That's like a double redesign in one year, which is super costly and has never happened before. I have my doubts about those renderings.

BMW is also late to the big grille game. Most brands have already played in that bed and moved on.

Yep, looks like they are taking Lexus queue's and upping in 50%. Also reminds me of a redo of some of the grills from the 1930's.

I hope it's not true, but with the new X5, X7 and 7 Series snouts, it's a distinct possibility.

Sometimes I hate Audi because all of their “new” designs have looked like the old ones for the last 15 years.

Then some other automaker does something stupid that reminds me designers have largely forgotten how to make attractive cars....maybe it’s better to just keep tweaking old designs.

. Those are some funny looking kidney grills, like they’re stretched out of proportion.

I think it looks terrible. I thought the grille on my M340 was questionable but this takes it to another level. Of course I thought the same thing when Audi first used their oversized grille and I like it now so who knows, maybe it will grow on me.
