Hopefully that is what they'll do with the LS!

The touchscreen is a huge win for me. I've had touch screens in my Lexus' going back as far as the 98 LS400 and they've all worked flawlessly.

How would they bring the LS500 screen closer to the driver though?

They'd have to bring it out from that binnacle that it current sits in. It's pretty deep in there right now

Agreed. Fatal flaw of many big Japanese corporations are UX and UI. years behind on software IMO. the interface on my 14 IS is so bad. Why cant I view any foreign characters on my display?

FYI, Sony cameras can connect via wifi and bluetooth now. Sony is making huge strides in their products lately to offer good software and user interfaces. I love my new Sony OLED TV (i've owned samsungs, LG's and Hisense and sony takes the cake) and have been using their cameras exclusively for the last 3 years, cant see myself going back to canon.

"Fatal flaw". Hard to argue wildly successful companies have "fatal flaws"

Fatal flaw may be too strong. But compare user interfaces to some other brands and the difference is clear. I totally get why the products are the way they are- it's the result of the corporate culture of many of these companies and lack of focus on these areas for decades.

Just a reminder - Sony just had largest profits in company history.

"Flaw" is fair. Everybody and every company has flaws. "Fatal" flaw though implies failure.

Welcome to the internet where everything gets blown out of proportion.

Back to the RX. I am really looking forward to these updates. My wife has been wanting CP since I bought my 530e with it.

Btw, we have no qualms with the existing Lexus interface. Is it as smooth or slick as the one in our BMW, no, is it as terrible as the posters on this board make it out to be, no.

i think they've definitely improved it over the last few years. My 14 was one of the first years and models that the interface was introduced. the non-navigation parts wouldn't be so bad if the interface wasn't so slow. entering a navigation destination with that interface is so infuriating for me that it's unusable. and it wont allow you to enter the destination with the lexus enform app either while you are in the car. what the heck?!

back to the topic, I think the MMC RXL looks great. will definitely consider it as our next vehicle purchase, but I think wife has her mind set on a CPO Mercedes GLS

if you need CP/AA the logical decision would be to get the 3p version retrofitted.

It certainly isnt fatal yet, but they are no longer number 1 in sales in the U.S. and for someone like me who only likes to own Lexus, it is starting to turn me off but then again, I'm just 1 customer.

Thats not really a function of their own sales as much as its a function of increased model lineups from BMW and Mercedes
