So the new touch screen appears in the RX before the LS? And thank goodness they didn't go with the small driver's screen and stupid horn ***** from the ES and LS. I know this is a minor refresh and not a major upgrade, but I wonder if that means they are abandoning that design going forward.
We haven't heard anything yet on the 2020 models , I think it's safe to assume the rest of the Lexus lineup excluding the dinosaur GX , LX , IS maybe and GS since they are older models will likely offer touch screen again. I don't know about the small driver screen from the ES and LS though, I don't see that making it on to the SUV lineup.

BTW when watching videos, it looks like they have moved the screen considerably closer to the driver with the inclusion of the touchscreen.
I think the little tweaks have taken what was IMHO a very unattractive vehicle and made it dare I say, good looking?

I had to flip back and forth between the 2 to even notice the differences on the exterior. The infotainment upgrade is by far the biggest news for this upgrade. And the screen is a lot closer than with the current version, but it's still going to be a reach to use the touchscreen. I checked it today based on where it looks to be, and from where I sit comfortably, I would have to lift my body off the seat back to reach it, and I have really long arms. I'm not sure a touchscreen if that great an idea unless you can reach it easily with your back on the seat.

On the old ones it's definitely forward, closer to the windshield to be closer to the driver's field of vision for driving.
New one is much closer, near the edge of the center stack

Here’s a good looking mom using the touch screen.

That's how it is in my Highlander as well. Not that big of a deal, but you do have to lean and stretch forward to reach it, especially the right hand side. It's one of the reasons I prefer a remote touch system versus a touch screen.

I still ill think the old touch screens are better positioned on the last gen GS and LS
