We haven't heard anything yet on the 2020 models , I think it's safe to assume the rest of the Lexus lineup excluding the dinosaur GX , LX , IS maybe and GS since they are older models will likely offer touch screen again. I don't know about the small driver screen from the ES and LS though, I don't see that making it on to the SUV lineup.

Those two vehicles are already on the Gen Nex platform, so that is still the design future (those systems also have the screen quite close to the driver). The RX platform is last gen, and on its way out. I`d expect the ES and LS to adopt the infotainment updates with their Mid model updates but retains the interior design

BTW when watching videos, it looks like they have moved the screen considerably closer to the driver with the inclusion of the touchscreen.

I think the little tweaks have taken what was IMHO a very unattractive vehicle and made it dare I say, good looking?

I had to flip back and forth between the 2 to even notice the differences on the exterior. The infotainment upgrade is by far the biggest news for this upgrade. And the screen is a lot closer than with the current version, but it's still going to be a reach to use the touchscreen. I checked it today based on where it looks to be, and from where I sit comfortably, I would have to lift my body off the seat back to reach it, and I have really long arms. I'm not sure a touchscreen if that great an idea unless you can reach it easily with your back on the seat.

Yes they did. Looks like an afterthought but it is an improvement. 300 new parts on the new RX. Now has a F Sport appearance package and a F Sport performance package.

Not sure why the screen was so far away to begin with. New location is way better, even if there wasn't a touchscreen option.

Just the trend at the time I guess.

On the old ones it's definitely forward, closer to the windshield to be closer to the driver's field of vision for driving.

New one is much closer, near the edge of the center stack

Here’s a good looking mom using the touch screen.

Yeah, notice how she has to lean forward to use it, with her back coming off the seat. Seems like it would be awkward.

That's how it is in my Highlander as well. Not that big of a deal, but you do have to lean and stretch forward to reach it, especially the right hand side. It's one of the reasons I prefer a remote touch system versus a touch screen.

Yep. Especially if you have short hands and/or long legs. And the icons are small as well.

I still ill think the old touch screens are better positioned on the last gen GS and LS
