ATLANTA, May 1, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of the Porsche 911, 718 Boxster and Cayman, Panamera, Cayenne, and Macan model lines, today announced April retail sales of 5,018 vehicles. The total was an increase of 5.0 percent from March but down 9.9 percent from a record April 2018. The primary reason for the year-over-year decline was the transition to the new Macan, the best-selling Porsche model that is due in U.S. dealerships this month.

U.S. retail sales in the first four months were 2.7 percent ahead of the same period in 2018, which itself was the seventh record retail year in a row for PCNA.

"In September we will unveil the first all-electric Porsche, the Taycan, so all in all we have a thrilling year to look forward to along with our 191 U.S. dealer partners."
April results were driven by strong demand for the new Cayenne, with a notable 86.1 percent increase compared to April 2018. The mid-engine 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman together were up 1.3 percent from a year ago.
Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) sales in the U.S. totaled 1,975 vehicles in April, up 9.4 percent year-over-year.

Lexus is just too slow to introduce new products or even a refresh. The long development cycle of the TNGA and poor product planning and timing is contributing to it.

Agree 100%. With the rapid changes in technology, Toyota/Lexus cannot have these slow refreshes. I think they are losing out by waiting to redesign some of these models. Just look at the LX, Tundra, Sequoia - these rigs should have been redesigned long ago. I mean the LX from 2008?

i think toyota/lexus really needs to take a hard look at their product lifecycles. maybe tnga will, going forward, provide more agility and responsiveness to the market. right now they seem to be a day (or years ) late and a dollar short (or too much ).

It's embarrassing how long Toyota/Lexus ignores so much of their product line. The only models that get regular attention are mostly the best sellers (Camry,Corolla, RAV4, Highlander,Tacoma, Avalon, ES, RX. etc.). It's particularly odd coming from the company with the deepest pockets in the industry. I could see if it was because the dinosaurs in the lineup still sold well but they don't and Toyota let's the competition dominate those segments instead of staying ahead of it.

I assume Corolla sales suffered due to the transition to the 2020 model.

I've been wondering for years when Lexus is going to offer a proper 3 row crossover to compete in this segment. They've stuck with these old body on frame SUV's which is fine for some but the market has certainly shifted to unibody. Doesn't help that the new Highlander isn't any bigger to more easily make a Lexus version off of. Although if they really want to compete with the new X7, GLS, & Q7, the basis would need to be more than a Highlander platform.
