Yes, but this simple issue seems to be a constant problem as many have complained about this. While it has become somewhat better over the years it is still a problem that Lexus apparently can’t figure out..
I drive a lot of different cars, and I think this is actually a thing that carmakers in general haven’t figured out. I don’t see anything uniquely bad about the current style Lexus cup holders.

One of the problems is that cups and lids come in so many different sizes. One obviously cannot put a hundred different-sized cupholders in the same vehicle. But I do like at least one of the partial-solutions...the adjustable-circumference, spring-loaded ones. Cupholder-extenders are also another interesting idea.
Or, one could just do what usually I do......brew the Starbucks at home LOL.

If you guys want to see some cool cupholder innovation, check out the cupholders in the new Kia Niro EV. Matt Maran's review of it on YouTube opened my eyes to them. Pretty ingenious design with a cool party trick, definitely never seen anything like it before.
I don't like the cupholders in my wife's 13 ES300h, but the ones in my 07 LS460 are fine.
I have a buddy with an Audi A8 and nothing more than basic coffee cups, medium sodas, or a skinny bottle of water fit in his cupholders.
That's ironic, because it was my impression that more mainstream brands' use of cupholders is what caused lux brands--particularly Germans--to have to relent and start including cupholders. It was that same attitude that caused Euro cars to come out with those horrible pop-out cupholders (ugh, do we really need to ruin our wonderfully engineered interiors so these Americans can drive with their Big Gulps?). While Honda and Toyota had cupholders that could actually hold cups.

But that looks like what we have on the 2010-2013 GX460 and springs break and poor holding of any large cup.
These look pretty good compared to the 3rd gen LS as the spring action is not weight bearing. I bought my car used and it was broken already, very flimsy. We just try to be careful.
My buddy talked me into DIY'ing it and at the time the best I could find was around $140 for the part on eBay (now I see closer to $100). He said the car deserves it just fix it right--I was gonna screw in a dollar store ring that someone posted on the forum...when I opened it up I found red female hair, a martini stirrer, and an Italian restaurant menu from Orlando lol

Don't minimize the power of the cupholder.....
I just think it's a funny thread topic, and honestly nothing I've ever really thought about. Whether the car has 'good ones or bad ones'. Seems silly to me. And you're right, we lose some beautiful interiors when we start adding some features. Remember (and maybe they still do) those BMWs with the pop out cupholder on the dash?

I am only 27 have had 5 Lexus's and without a doubt the cupholders in there cars are complete crap, everything down to the placement design etc. Is there any Lexus's (lexi?) that have decent cupholders?
I currently own a 2006 ES330 and that is one thing lacking is a cup holder that even grabs the cup or bottle. Ever since we bought this car my wife begs me to replace the cup holder when her drink literally falls out of the holder at the slightest turn. Please don't even mention about not drinking in the Lexus. I tried that and it did not go over well. I see the wedge type holder/console but that forces you to keep the passenger seat in place. I have been searching for some cup holder I could attach to the current one ( grabs onto or around) that comes out of the console. I am also searching all of the internet for a cup holder that either fits into either door pocket or attaches to the outside of the door pockets.
