Automotive glass

Believe me, I would have noticed. Stuff like this drives me nuts.
What you're seeing is residue on the glass, you can clearly see its water etching and residue from water running down the glass. If you polish out the windshield it would be gone. Has nothing to do with acoustic glass.

Any recommendations on glass polish? I have a couple (would have to look what brands) they are okay but nothing special.

So you can use Bon Ami cleaner, its a powdered household cleaner that you can just rub into the glass. You can also use steel wool lubricated with water or window cleaner. Thats where I would start.
If those don't work you can use a dedicated glass polish with a buffer...

I will try it in an inconspicuous part like a corner...

Pat Goss (who I'm sure you are aware of or have listened to) used to recommend Bon Ami Glass Cleaner to get stubborn films off.

My GS was a luxury package model, they don't make it anymore. It definitely had laminated front door glass. I believe F sports do also as long as they have the cold weather package.

Depends on what you are trying to do. Glass is totally different then paint, it is really hard compared to paint/clear so many polishes/pads that work on paint won't do much of anything on glass if you are talking about scratches. If you just want to polish the glass to get residue, water stains, gunk off any polish made for paint will work for glass. If you are trying to get surface scratches out especially with a portable cable you have to use a really aggressive glass polishing pad, special glass polish, and press hard and work slow. I used Ceriglass and a red glass polishing pad and had to make a slurry with water and work the polish for a while just to get some wiper scratches out or cut down on them, lot of really hard time consuming work, nothing like polishing paint.

Thanks for the info. I've been using various compounds which work for the most part although at times I notice I don't get 100% of the residue off. I never use an ice scraper so I don't get many if any scratches. I have a used windshield (OEM, not available new anymore) to install at some point so I'm going to give Ceriglass a try.
