Not sure how the front and rear are going to pan out but side proportions, stance/fitment and short front overhang and long wheelbase make it the real deal

I don't like the sloping rear end.

Agreed. The current car's sloped, but not hatchback-like rear end is more handsome to me. I wonder if this means it'll be an actual hatchback.

in an suv world you need a slope like that for better rear headroom and trunk space.

But it could still be a "sedan" with that profile. You would just have better headroom and generously sized parcel shelf in the back.

It does have the potential for more room in the trunk, but I do not agree that a sloped roof will provide rear passengers with more headroom.

This sloped roof is all about a style, not utility.

But is it a dumpy butt?

The more I look at it, I don't mind it really.

Bingo.

In most cases, you are correct. Though a sloped roof may have some aero-effect at higher speeds, in most cases, all it accomplishes is a more coupe-like appearance. IMO, if people want a coupe, then buy a coupe....don't try and make sedans into coupes. And, yes, all else equal, sloped roofs do make rear seat entry/exit more difficult and headroom tighter...sometimes also for the front seat.
