Toyota still keeps the sedan heavily under wraps.
After months of not seeing it's development, the next-gen Toyota Corolla is finally on the road again. Rather than conducting arctic testing, this test mule is on the roads around Ann Arbor, Michigan, which can feel nearly as cold as the North Pole this time of year.
Unfortunately, Toyota covers the sedan in cladding, which completely conceals the vehicle's styling details. The way the covering adheres to the body provides some clues, though. In front, there's evidence of a two-tiered fascia with a horizontal bar separating them. The hood curves downward to the model's grille, and the shape flows nicely to the raked windshield. Compared to its chief rival, the Honda Civic, the Corolla has a flatter roof, which sacrifices a svelte look for interior space. There's not much to see at the rear, but the cutout in the vinyl reveals the reverse lights, which tells us that the taillights have a horizontal orientation. https://www.motor1.com/news/227117/2...lla-spy-shots/
I do love the mirrors mounted down on the doors, rather than in the "triangle" at the front of the window. Looks much more upscale and I'm glad Toyota models are incorporating this now. Otherwise, not much to see here. I assume it'll have the same 2.0 as the UX? It would be a nice fit for the Corolla I think.
The new Corolla will ride on the Toyota New Global Architecture like the Prius and C-HR. Rumors suggest that BMW and Toyota's partnership might lead to the Corolla using BMW-sourced powerplants.
Someone looking for clicks apparently. Hell would need to freeze over before Toyota would even consider that, especially with their newly announced 2.0 i4 and especially for a Corolla...
Seems like Brasilian website got pretty accurate drawing, as accurate as these things go anyway... from the first post, it matches lines of the one in testing:
Been a while since the Corolla wont be fitted with reliable but turdy engines. Wonder if Toyota will make another Corolla S or whatever it was with the 2.5L. Nothing wrong with giving people another option.

it should get that new 2.0l as base engine and that new cvt with first gear. That might have 30% more torque than before, and even more at low end due to D4S. That will be huge upgrade.
Exactly, just pure BS. I am so tired of the dismal content that qualifies as "journalism" on many automotive websites, seeing as fictitious rumours start from them. Someone like you will see through it, but what about the average reader? Who will absorb it like a sponge and not take it with a grain a salt or toss it in the bin where it belongs. I rest my case with that annoying epidemic.
Appararently for North America, production has been tentatively scheduled for April 1, 2019 for the 2020 model year, with May or June 2019 launch date.

They do not deserve any credit, as that rendering is straight from Japan and originates from August/September 2016 like from BestCar via the great Japanese source of Car Kuruma GT. That was when design freeze for the 150B Corolla programme was completed (as in final specs locked-into place). The first TNGA-C mules started out running based on that back in November 2016. It is so easy for these sites to just lazily grab a rendering from another source and not give due credit.

thanks for the new source .
Although their engine sources are well suspect, since they posted few days ago about new Rav4 having Prius 1.8l powertrain which wont happen, but I guess if they post BestCar pics, they are good enough for me .
