2018 Kia Stinger
Mike,
An option on screen for the Alex review you posted shows his comparison of the Stinger GT2 to the Q50S with the 300hp V-6. He really liked the Stinger. I assume the sample you get is going to be AWD and I will be interested in your view on how this handles. Be prepared the first time you nail the throttle - it's not a Tesla but it is really quick. The 0-60 time matches the RC-F, but the mid range torque of the Stinger really hits hard from about 30 mph. None of my "old time muscle cars" ever had this kind of acceleration including a Super Duty Pontiac GP and a Mustang 428 Cobra-Jet. Of course, none of them had 8 speed transmissions and modern tires.

Auto Guide just did a "car of the year" test:
They selected an odd combination of cars: base 4 cyl Stinger, V-6 Turbo Alfa, 4 cyl Camry XSE, 2.0 turbo Accord, and an Impressa.
I expected the Gulia to win in a slam dunk but it did not. They loved the looks, the steering, the acceleration. They hated the interior ergonomics, the tiny back seat, the rock hard ride, and the $84,000 price.

Now that the Stinger is out, there will be a lot of interesting comparisons. In this case my personal preference is with the BMW by a whisker. Stinger will be good competition for a variety of brands/models.
I had a '74 SD TA. Also had a '67 2+2 with the highest HP engine that year, the 428 HO, same as 1969. SD engines were installed at the factory in 1961-1963 & 1973-1974 only.
The largest Grand Prix engine I can remember was the 455, but, if my memory is correct, that didn't come out till 1970....and replaced the 428. A version of the 455 also went into the GTO Judge with the bright orange paint and flame-graphics on the fenders.
Which BMW do you prefer the Stinger to?............I assume you mean the 340, as it is, mechanically, probably the closest one.
Yes GM engines were limited to 7 litres as a result of the "Ban" on racing a few years earlier. The displacement limitation was lifted for 1970 which yielded the 455 for B O P & 454 for Chevy

Check your local dealer's web-sites for inventory. Stingers are just starting to arrive now, although the ones officially listed on dealer-inventory sites aren't necessarily there yet.....dealers load them up on the sites sometimes when they order them. Sometimes they will be marked "In Transit"...other times, not.

OK, it was a long time ago. As I remember, the base engine was 370 hp and the HO was 400. About right?
