Infiniti Adds Amazon Alexa Skill to Select Vehicles
Feature lets you lock, unlock, and start your car via voice command
Infiniti has added an Amazon Alexa skill as part of its connected services to allow owners to start, unlock, and lock their vehicles via voice commands using an Amazon Echo. Available on the Alexa Skill Store, the new feature connects Infiniti‘s multimedia systems to an Alexa-enabled device and is free to download.
The Alexa skill does require owners to have an active subscription to Infiniti’s InTouch Services or Infiniti Connection to use along with a valid Owner Portal account. Nearly every current Infiniti model from the 2013 model year onward will be compatible with the Alexa skill. The only vehicles not supported are the QX50, which will soon be replaced by a new-generation model, and the QX30 small crossover.
iirc BMW also partnered with Amazon and their Alexa tech recently as well. Isn't IBM Watson the smartest of the bunch? Overall kind of gimmicky, kinda cool.
