Default Lock doors after start-up

Does anyone know if you can lock the door after you start the car and let it run for a bit to warm up? I usually start the car for 5 to 10 minutes before heading to work. If I try to lock the doors, they automatically unlock if the key is outside the car. I have tried to lock it with the remote, interior lock and handle lock all with the same result.

I have a 2010 ES 350 and I also have tried to start and then lock the doors and go back inside the house, however I have never been able to figure out how.

No, you can't lock the car with the key outside while the engine is running.

Thanks for the info. I'm sure it's different for car with remote start installed.
