I don't really like how they've disassociated the number with the engine. Now it's kind of like how the Q50 has multiple engine options. The hard part with Lexus is that you also have the IS350, so sometimes they follow it, and sometimes they don't, all on the same model...
To me, it makes sense. For all NA engines and non hybrids, they follow the displacement of the engine. For those that have turbo or are hybrid, then you get the disassociation because it is supposed to be the power equivalent of the NA engine. Im guessing this is strictly in response to Mercedes, which uses the "300" nameplate for all their 2.0 turbos. An IS200t sounds "lower end" than a C300. In fact, the mercedes sounds 100 points better
