Brand New Car - Odometer Reading
How many miles/kms should one expect to be on brand new car (in this case a 2017 RX450h FSport)? I'm guessing about 25kms/15 miles? Thanks

My BMW had 3, my wife's 11, my dad test drove a Buick and that had 17. imho anything over 5-7 means someone other than the supply channel drove it, for whatever reason. Does it matter? Probably not. But I like 3, 4, 5, it just means that there was minimal handling of the vehicle prior to you getting it...my buddy's brother bought a brand new Lexus and it had 130. They drove it up from another dealership--I advised against it, but he didn't care. Now how stupid is this, I told him I've seen car jockeys eating and speeding around in cars. So the dealer responded something like all our drivers are very old and would never do that. WHAT?!

Did you look at the odometer when you test drove the car (assuming you test-drove the model that you eventually bought)? If so, was there a great difference between what was on the odometer when you tested it and when you picked it up? Remember that Canadian dealers do the pre-delivery prep only after the contract is signed, so there will be some distance added in the prep before delivery to you (it should only be a very few kilometres, though). If the difference is great, you may want to ask the dealer about it, but do it when you pick up the car, not after you have already driven it off the lot.
If your new car was driven as a demonstrator (either executive-driven or test-driven), there will be more than the normal number of kilometres on it when you test drove it.

There is a mileage statement on the bill of sale, ensure the odometer doesn't exceed it when picking up the car.

It is not clear to me when the odometer reading is recorded: Is it recorded when you initially sign the intention to purchase (before the pre-delivery inspection) or upon delivery (after the pre-delivery inspection)? There may be some kilometres put on the car during the pre-delivery preparation process.
Every new car purchase i have made, that number is recorded as 50 km, but the odo is more like 15 - 30 at delivery.

Did you actually lease or purchase that new RX F-Sport you mentioned?...your post didn't say. If so, congratulations....and good luck with it.

one of our new cars can have over 100 miles on it if the car came from another dealership, but usually it's in the 5-25 mile range

My last new car was a '07 Honda Civic and I shopped via the Internet and email before agreeing to a price. The dealer had to trade a car to get the color/options and drove it around 50 miles before we got it at the dealership (so we knew it was not going to have 10-15 miles on it). Ironically, we found out later the car was at a Honda dealer closer to our house (one that did not respond to the inquiry and not know for good pricing) but it never came up that we could pick it up as the selling dealership traded a Pilot....
Not sure these days there can be hard and fast rules on a new car unless you custom ordered the specific car you are buying and waited the 2-3 months before it arrived at the destination.....

Just picked up a 2017 MDX Advance a couple of weeks ago. It had 40 miles on the odometer. The vehicle had been at the dealer since 4/17, so my assumption is a few test drives. The document I signed stated that my warranty began at the 40 mile mark.

Our new car purchase. We drove another car same model, because the one we wanted was on the showroom floor. We were in Wichita over four hours from home, for an appointment. We drove a new dealer car around to our appointment, while they looked at our trade in . I can see how new cars that sit on the lot have extra miles. That doesn't mean that they are damaged, or not as good some how. Ours had over 300 miles on it. I'm glad it did for break in purposes. Otherwise on our long drive home, would have been at constant speed. That's not great for break in. Lots of dealers require a salesman to ride with you on a test drive due yo insurance. Not like there's real abuse going on then either. I would worry more about miles if it was a performance sports car .

I know car dealers don't look it this way, but a car that has 300 miles on it is a rental car to me. Throughout the years I have gotten many loaners and rentals at that mileage or below. If one figures an avg test drive is what, 10 miles, that's like 20+ test drives were done. Or 15 test drives and a salesperson took it home. I did do a Passat TDi 6-spd manual test drive for over 40 miles, that was an exception....one can easily vary the speed on the highway, go 60 for 5 min, go 68 for 10 min, go 62 for 12 min., etc. my .02 everyone has an opinion, friend's brother had no problem having a brand new Lexus driven up from MD and paying for it as if it were a new car....
