Porsche builds 1 millionth 911
Good to hear. Not surprising. I don't really buy the sweeping generalizations of the drivers of certain brands.
I got to experience this somewhat first hand.
My friend took me for a spin in his boxster when he first got it. As we pulled up to a red light next to a 911, my friend says "watch this, this guy won't wave back." Sure enough, the guy checks out my friend's car and see it's a lowly boxster, and gave a snob look and just drove off. He says all the 911 that he encounters are the same.
It could be the superiority complex of a 911 over a boxster, but there's no comradery at all.

I'm new to the Porsche scene, but so far... all the 911 owners I have encountered wave at me in my lowly Macan S. I do live in a state that has signs saying "Welcome to Texas, Drive Friendly-The Texas Way". But with more and more people moving here...not as friendly as it use to be. By the way, LOVE the 1 millionth 911!
I've owned one Porsche, but as of late, was lucky enough to attend the launches of the 991, the prior Boxster (wtf was my invite on the new 4 cyl one?), and did the driving event in 2015. IT IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT THAN BMW OR MB. Not to knock BMW, their events are a cut above many, I attended the launches of the E90 and the F01/02. But Porsche is so relaxed, got a tour of the repair facility, with turbos having their motors out (ruh roh these were 997's), the finest hors d'oeuvres and alcohol, and a level of enthusiasm bar none. One of the guys I met, again, said if you have the money, by all means, buy a new 911, he's had two, but he found the sweet spot is 5-6 y.o.....
of course, because he knew the NSX is an awesome, beautiful machine!!!!!
The Boxster did save the company from going bankrupt in 1997. It was their 1st mass production vehicle.
