You don't have to tell me what was being built in those days.....I knew it only too well LOL.

Chrysler also gave a (false) impression of quality, while in fact building junk. Lee Iacocca did a bunch of slick, smooth-talking TV commercials (this was in the days before the Internet), all the while turning out Volare/Aspens, Omni/Horizons, and a bunch of different K-car designs (mostly junk). He also ranted, on and on, about not allowing Japanese imports into the country, while at the same time selling a number Mitsubishi-designed/rebaged products under Chrysler nameplates. GM, unlike the other two corporations, with Roger Smith at the helm, simply didn't care what people thought, or even try to give an impression of quality......they just turned out junk for the sake of making a quick profit (the worst was arguably the Pontiac Fiero). It was truly a disgusting time in American automotive history. I don't even enjoy talking about it (I wasted a fair amount of money on junk myself back then), but do so for the sake of history, as an auto enthusiast.

Anyhow.....I only brought that old slogan back from Ford as a indication that it was maybe time for both Lexus and Lincoln to start acting on it again. It's true, though, as you say, that one cannot compare the products of today with those of 35 years ago.
