I got 29mpg highway out of my GS400 when I moved up to college. Cruise set at 75, no A/C, loaded with all my living crap.

If Lexus updated the engine with higher compression, direct injection, cylinder deactivation, I think it'd easily rival the current 2GR V6.

 

They wouldn't. It's just wishful thinking. I like V8s better than 6s. And more torque. But the idea has a slight amount of merit because the 1UZ is a proven gold standard for motors.
