Beautiful update that takes cues from the latest CX-9. This is the front runner for my next car.

if lexus took some design cues from mazda, i'd be in line to purchase the refreshed (or next gen) nx. mazda's design language is super striking, while lexus' is polarizing, with quite a number on the negative end of the pole.

The CX-5 is that old now? Seems like just a few years ago it debuted. Doesn't look like it needs any updating at all in my opinion.

4 years old. This prototype may run about 6 month then reveal takes place in an international auto show then production starts in another 6-12months. In line with the 2018/2019 model year.

If they did I'd be in line with you for an RX or NX. Mazda is doing grezt job with their exteriors.

The CX-7 (which I almost got before settling on the IS) was a dud. The CX-5 however has been a stud

What are the changes? It looks the same (other than the forward-canted grille) to me. Or is it just a test mule with the existing body?

It could be the body masking but the headlights may have changed. I expect the exteriors to be largely similar. I wonder if Mazda i-eloop or Mazda G-Vectoring Control technologies will be coming to the CX-5.

Profile line of this prototype is like CX-3 vs current gen CX-5.

Definitely looks new... look at rear door windows. One larger piece rather than having the vertical break line with the current vehicle. Smaller little triangle trim piece at the leading edge of the front door area.

Rear taillights look smaller and very much like the 3 dimensional ones on the new CX-9.

And, judging from the general outline under the body tape, it doesn't look like the new one got much updating, at least on the outside.

looks very nice... i hope they update in-car tech and auto-brake systems by then... little bit more of sound deadening and there is simply no reason not to buy it.

Looks like they stole the headlights from the BMW suvs or was it the 3 series.
