Default where to dispose of coolant waste?

Hi,

I recently did a coolant flush and have over 4 jugs of waste coolant that I need to get rid of. It seems that neither Walmart, Autozone, the local Toyota dealer take the coolant (like they do with the oil). Where is coolant typically disposed of?

I'd find a haz. waste processing facility. Here we have a company called H2O Environmental where you can take all of that stuff (car fluids, paint, volatiles, etc). There is a small fee to dispose of it, but I feel like it's better than any other option. I personally would rather pay to have it disposed of properly than it get dumped somewhere.

Pretty sure if walmart sells the stuff they are required to take it for recycling -- I would speak to a manager.

Not true. They sell paint, varnish, paint thinner, strippers, its up to you to figure out how to dispose of the leftovers.

As for the coolant, get on google and see if your county or city has a hazardous waste disposal center. Nashville has one place that will take used oil, coolant, oil-based paint, strippers etc, provided you don't have a commercial tag on your truck(no businesses) and its below a certain amount a month. Completely free as well.

Many "real" auto repair shops will take your coolant. Just call around, I'm sure you will find one close yo you.

Some counties have occasional hazardous waste drop off days. Check with them.
