Default Super Long Life Coolant (pink)

Its about time to replace my original red coolant on my RX300. I am interested of replacing it with Toyota super long life pink coolant. My question here is that o.k. to mix the red coolant with pink coolant? Because I will only drain and fill. This will not completely remove the old coolant. And another issue is anybody can suggest where I can purchase the cheapest pink coolant in USA? I went to the dealer and theyre selling it for $29/gallon. Is that fair pricing?

I think dealers routinely refill with the pink (already mixed) coolant when they do a drain and refill. A Toyota-trained mechanic did it to mine last year at my 4-year service, and I'm not worried. Using already mixed coolant eliminates the concern over the water they're using to dilute (i.e., distilled, mineral-laden, etc.)

You can get the stuff cheaper at your local Toyota dealer. It's one of the many maintenance items that are common to Lexus and Toyota cars.

Thanks for your input Bob. I need opinion to other members what they can say about mixing & cost issue. I hope somebody can guide me to a cheaper pricing of pink coolant.

I don't know of other sources but I just paid $15 for a gallon of the already mixed pink at the Toyo dealer. I thought that was a lot for a gallon half filled with water.

stick with oem toyota coolant. it's one of the best formulations out there and made especially for your vehicle.

Since hot water is generally used to flush the cooling system, some water will sit in there. This is why most coolant is sold in 2x concentration. In most cars, adding a bottle of 2x coolant will give you roughly a 50/50 mix.

I asked the same question in another thread, no one had a definitive answer.
