What years? I doubt you could do a lot of drifting with a 2016 IS300 but some with a MY 2001.

Well an early 90's LS albeit a comfortable drive, would wallow in the corners. The slightly rougher around the edges but sturdy IS300 is the better choice for spirited driving and inline smoothness.

Look at the SC300, SC400, or IS300. The LS400 is a wonderful car, but it has absolutely no pretensions of being sporty or having a semblance of agile handling. Plus its a lot heavier than the other two cars.

I will tell you this, IS300 resale is INSANE for clean, lower mile(under 150k), non-hacked up cars. What's your budget??? And what are your goals with the car???

Keep in mind a turbo build on the 2JZ is not cheap, like $3,000 mimimum to do it right and maybe end up with 300-400whp

I'd say you're going to get a much nicer, lower mile Lexus SC or GS for $5000. All the IS cars I looked at for $5000 were beat to hell by a bunch of punk kid owners.

Also nobody mentioned the 2nd gen GS. That's one of my favorite cars Lexus ever made, it handles nicely but still has the really nice/similar looking/feeling interior of the bigger LS. I'd get one with the v8 personally, it has 75 more horsepower than the 2JZ cars and gets similar gas mileage. Plus its a lot easier to find an old lady/retired man type car in great shape with the GS.

my answer is almost always get an LS 400 lol but if you want something to drift around in it's not really for that. plus you'd need to swap in a limited slip diff and then it becomes a whole project... yada yada yada... the IS 300 would probably better suit your needs.
