i would be surprised that the lf-lc will compete against the 911 too , especially if it's based on the LS platform

I just don't see the SC built on the LS, but rather on the Supra.

RC F is direct competitor to BMW M4, Audi RS 5, etc...LF-LC will be the next generation SC which is a direct competitor to the BMW 6 Series, Mercedes SL..

The Lexus LFA is an exotic sports car which competes with the Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc...
Well, why does bmw have an m4, an m6 and the i8? You get what Im saying?
Ahh I understand know lol but the SC was never that big to be honest lol but i guess they're changing some things around!

1992-2000 - The 1SC (MY (model year) 1998) was a two door 4 passenger coupe and had a V8, 290hp which was in line with the first generation BMW 6 Series (E24).

2001-2012 - The 2SC (MY 2003) was a two door 4 passenger convertible and had a V8, 300hp which was in line with the second generation BMW 6 Series (E63/E64) with 325hp, however BMW had a 6 Series coupe, convertible and an M6 (performance version).

2016-Future - The 3SC (hopefully Lexus builds it using the LF-LC concept) assuming it will arrive in 2015 or 2016 and that we'll get a coupe (SC 460), a convertible (SC 460C), a hybrid (SC 450h or 600h) and a performance version (SC F) which again is in line with the third generation BMW 6 Series (F12/F13)...

So that means? NA V8 for both or NA V8 for one and FI V6 for hybrid? What about FI V8? Only for LS F? What engines for LC/SC?

Lexus Trademarks LC 500 & LC 500h in Canada, USA, and Australia

Lexus has just trademarked LC 500 & LC 500h in the USA, Canada, & Australia, giving us the first clear indication of what to expect from the upcoming production LF-LC coupe.

This is huge news on multiple levels — there had been talk that the production LF-LC could resurrect the SC nameplate, but it appears the new coupe will adopt letters from its concept.

Bigger than the name are the two engine designations — there is currently no model in the Lexus lineup with either a 500 or 500h badge.

It’s possible to guess at the LC 500, as the RC F’s 467 horsepower 5.0L V8 engine would fit in with the usual Lexus naming convention (350 = 3.5L engine, 460 = 4.6L engine).

As for the LC 500h, this will most certainly be a new engine altogether. Let’s use the existing models as a guide — the GS 450h is powered by a 3.5L V6 hybrid engine, and the LS 600h is powered by a 5.0L V8 hybrid. Essentially, the hybrid system adds one-litre to the badge designation.

In my mind, there are two ways to go with this:

Lexus has developed a new 4.0L V6 or V8 and paired it to the hybrid system.
The next-generation hybrid system generates the equivalent of a half-litre of displacement and the engine remains as a 3.5L V6 engine.
No matter the engines, these trademarks are a major step in the eventual production model LF-LC, and it looks like Lexus is pulling out all the stops.

For completion’s sake, the LC trademarks were registered November 24th in the USA (1, 2) & Canada (1, 2), and on November 25th in Australia (1, 2).

I hope there are still some plans for an SC nameplate... it's such an iconic Lexus model.

500h is interesting... does that mean that it will have at least 400hp?

Default Lexus LC500 & LC500h

Well, it looks closer to happening

From LE:

I am a bit surprised - I would have expected LC500 and LC600h, with the 600 having the V8+hybrid as a ridiculous top end model.
