GFerg, thanks for posting that article, very interesting and great job Lexus on bringing outsiders in on it early on and through the revisions...!
sounds like the dynamic handling/steering/etc should be really world class, and with the 10 speed and 5.0 v8 it should be deliciously smooth and plenty fast enough. what's not to like?
Looks like the same Andrew English UK article from last week we thoroughly discussed in this thread, has now been reposted a week later with Autoblog...
Anywho looks like he finally corrected himself stating the Prototype driven weighs 4,300lbs.. As reported by MotorTrend from the get go...
Hopefully the final iteration comes in at their projected weight..!!

Motortrend info is clearly wrong. Car is going to weight 1800kg, just like RC-F, hence same performance as RC-F, which is 4.4s 0-60. Andrew English confirmed it in his review thats all over English media and Lexus UK website.
Interesting point was that lightweight version of the vehicle was not tested yet by journalist, that will come in February. That prototype in February will have carbon fibre parts, previous ones did not. Also last prototype had rear wheel steering, I dont think Lexus has announced this yet, but the car will have optional RWS, optional carbon firbe roof, optional 21" forged wheels, optional ML, optional sport seats..
I really can not agree with the "clearly wrong" statement..
Mototrend had been invited by Lexus early on, to start documenting the progress of the prototype / mules back in December 2014 here in Southern California
I think this is going to be a great car. Can't wait to one on the street. Just something different about seeing a car in its natural settings versus online.
One thing though, and not sure why it bothers me, but I dislike that center-console, passenger-side handle. It's too Corvetteish. I'm sure there's a practical use for these things, namely giving your passengers something to firmly grip while you scare the living daylights out of them, but it just makes the cabin look less roomy, more claustrophobic and breaks the visual lines horizontally. On the other hand, you won't have to worry too much about your passenger changing radio stations, lol.

erh, MT never said that protype weighted 4300lbs, they said LC500 weights 4300. And that it goes 0-60 is 4.5s, which would be the final car, not prototype which is slower obviously with 330lbs more.
MT also never reported that they driven the car without aluminium and carbon doors.
So we have it now, same as what we could have known before, it will weight about the same as RC, at 3968lbs.
I dont understand how could you guys think that LC500 would go 0-60 in 4.4s yet weight 330lbs more than RC that also goes 0-60 in 4.4s and has exactly the same engine and is RWD. RC-F transmission is not slow and 10 speed will certainly not shift to 60 faster than it, if anything it will have more gears to shift possibly.
there has been some talk previously how future Lexus hybrids will have different/sports transmission already... this kind of confirms it but lets see what they can come up with.
well, we've got a long time to wait probably before we find out what the production car will actually weigh and how fast it is.
it could certainly be quicker than the rc-f and yes, the 10 speed could improve 0-60 as well as weight distribution which might be better than the rc-f.

we know how fast it is because they already announced the numbers. So I am not sure what you would be waiting for exactly, at least when it comes to 0-60. It is not going to be quicker than RC-F because they already said it will be as fast as RC-F, not faster. Once again, whats the point of trying to make a mystery out of already announced figures.
How the car feels and drives is another set of beans and thats something that will be subjective regardless of its actual performance.
If the LC is to have any success outside of the US, it'll absolutely need a lower-displacement, lower emission option like all its competitors do. A 3.5L V6 hybrid version (supposedly already trademarked as the LC500h) will be the least they should come up with next.
'16, '17 and '18 are three long model years without a droptop in Lexus' catalog. I agree they should have made an RC convertible, or found a way to update the IS-C in the meantime...
Looks ugly with gaping spindle grill and all those cliche sharp creases and folds. Japanese anime design gone amok??
Same goes for all new Lexus models.

That's the direction Lexus is going, if you don't like it now, you will probably not like it then.
What's wrong with anime design? have you seen modern mecha at all?
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Design is subjective after all.
Personally I like the spindle because it stands apart. This is not a design that gets lost in a parking lot filled with jellybeans. Also the spindle shape is refined more and more as it integrates into Lexus design and future models
