Moderators: We already have two other active Car Chat threads going on a Lexus pickup. I think all three can be merged:

It's an abomination. It would also probably sell well in certain markets, just like how Bentley et al. see a market for land whales. I'd like to see a GX or LX hybrid though.

Lexus is becoming more of a lifestyle brand, which means they just don't sell cars, but they exude a certain lifestyle for their clientele market.

I don't think a pick-up truck is part of that lifestyle. Let's leave that to Cadillac or Lincoln...

F-it. I would buy one tomorrow. I want a Lexus, but I need a truck, and currently cant swing both.

If this hits the streets, Ram will lose a customer.

I would vote to kill it, but I know there would be a lot of folks in TX where I live that would buy one. They have money but they are still true to their roots.

Yeah, the Lincoln Blackwood and Escalade pickups were pretty much DOA and they had the heritage of Ford and GM pickups behind them. I'd bet that Lexus knows better than to jump into one.

I'll say one thing for the Rams built within the last few years...especially the 1500 model. The designers practically worked a miracle in the truck's underpinnings and sound-insulation, essentially giving it the ride of a luxury sedan while still able to do the hard work expected of a pickup. I've never seen a body-on-frame pickup with that kind of comfort-level.

My April Fool's jokes earlier this year consisted of a elaborate, "official" press releases from BMW and Toyota announcing plans for "premium" pickups to offset competition from Daimler AG. One a Hilux-based pickup "HT350" and the other a Tundra-based version "LT570". For BMW, the "T-Series" If only I hadn't lost my drafts on my tablet...

True, very true. People can say all what they want about pickups, but Texans love their trucks more than anything. If the Titan has gotten sales there, who's to say a Lexus pickup wouldn't work?
