lexus drivers don't need no stinkin self park
self parallel parking has trickled down to the mainstream cars in addition to other luxury brands.
ford focus, mercedes, and a few others.
At the same time, dmv driving tests have slowly eliminated parallel parking such that future drivers won't even know how to park on a street anymore.
But lexus has entirely abandoned it. What's up with that

I dont know why, but they need to bring it back because BMW is already coming out with completely self driving cars without a driver in the seat in the new 7 series. Not sure how the company that invented self parking cars stopped making it an option. This tech has trickled down to lower models very quickly though in other brands

they just introduced new version on some new vehicle in Japan few months ago... some cars in europe like Auris have it standard on higher levels of equipment too.... i am having my doubts that they will go crazy with it in the usa with all the lawsuits possible.

The Gen 3 system on the 2010-2011 Prius (2012-2015 Prius v) has a Pre-Support feature that guides the driver on where to position the car for a quicker setup. Assuming the bumper hasn't been damaged (out of alignment) and the driver follows the instruction, you basically just stop, shift to reverse, double check it's all green and then press OK. No need to adjust the box.

And that's Gen 2. They got rid of the "play-by-play" voice guidance from the Gen 1 system on the Prius.
The Gen 3 system on the 2010-2011 Prius (2012-2015 Prius v) has a Pre-Support feature that guides the driver on where to position the car for a quicker setup. But even that is still way more complicated than many systems offered on other OEMs, even basic mainstream vehicles. You simply press a button, some let you toggle between parallel vs. perpendicular parking, then you drive slowly, and once it finds a spot, it alerts you, and then you can let the car take over.
(Aside from the last bit about the car taking over. Toyota's system only controls the steering wheel, not the accelerator/brake like MB or Ford).Toyota's system will let you choose between parallel or perpendicular park (either side of the car).

You pretty much described the Pre-Support function of the APGS (Aside from the last bit about the car taking over. Toyota's system only controls the steering wheel, not the accelerator/brake like MB or Ford).
Toyota's system will let you choose between parallel or perpendicular park (either side of the car).
