Default Le Mans 2015

The greatest race on Earth will take place this weekend, anyone going to Le Mans or intending to follow it online? The Porsche 919 Hybrid trio wrapped up the first 3 spots and clocked the fastest time for the current track setup. Audi are 4-5-6 with their diesel-hybrid racers and Toyota are struggling with their V8-hybrid cars at the tail end of LMP1. Gonna be a cracking race!

Toyota missed their chance to win last year with the fastest car, now they are 5+ seconds slower than Porsche. You can never count them out as its a 24hr race, but they need a perfect race AND a miracle to win.

Nissan is a bit slower than the rest but not expecting much for a first iteration of the car. It will be a victory for that team to finish being debutted at 24 hours

Oh yeah, I forgot about the front engined, FWD Nissan GTR-LM. They're always sending left field designs to Le Mans just for the heck of it, like last year's Deltawing car.

Toyota had a fast but unreliable car last year . Porsche had a slow and more reliable car then, now they've upped the performance and hopefully the reliability to beat the rest. The 919 has incredible tech: a 500 hp turbo V4, an exhaust-driven motor-generator unit and front wheel motors for AWD-like performance. I love how ACO have a lot of leeway for new and crazy designs that will filter down to road cars, unlike the pointless rules in F1.

Last year will end up as being as the closest they could've had gotten to the victory. WEC will get just more and more competitive on year to year basis. Good news is that Toyota Japan finally woke up and realized they should have done something this year so they are trying to make up by brining in brand new powertrain next year together with switch to batteries in order to play in the highest MJ tier they can.

And they're off, now in the second hour with Porsche 1-3-4, Audi in the middle and Toyota at the end of the LMP1 pack. The official Android LR Mans 24 Heures app has live timing and news but no free video. I remember watching last year's race for free, now I'm scrambling to find a free video feed.

Toyota is an embarrassment today considering they almost won it last year. They only look OK if you look at the standings cause Nissan is utter failure and Rebellion is having issues but they cant compete with Porsches and Audis. Audi #9 was stuck in a garage so Toyota #2 has passed it but guess what, Audi is catching up on it and by the end of the race it will devour it. So they cant compete even broken Audis.

The chequered flag drops and Porsche #19 wins the race with Nico Hulkenberg driving, sharing with Nick Tandy and Earl Bamber. Second place goes to the #18 Porsche and third to Audi. Helluva race for Porsche and it could have been a clean sweep if the third car hadn't gone off a few times.

It's nice to see something other than an Audi win. Toyota messed up and didn't have the speed to run at the front while Nissan completely screwed up with their unconventional FWD racer. So much going on throughout the 24 hours with LMP1 that I kinda forgot about LMP2 and GTE. Now I gotta sleep...

Time stands still. For the 17th time in over 60 years.
The 919 Hybrid achieves the 17th overall victory for Porsche at the 24h of Le Mans.
We extend heartfelt thanks to the team for a historic achievement.
