And there is so much talk about how Toyota now has access to Mazda's SkyActiv Diesel from their recent agreement. Personally, I don't think Toyota needs any Mazda engine technology but the auto bloggers sure think so.
i doubt they will use mazda's engine, they have BMW's for Euro6 now...Originally Posted by Sulu
That's what I was thinking. Toyota just released new truck diesels; it would not be that costly to adapt them for cars (if they wanted to do that). And there is so much talk about how Toyota now has access to Mazda's SkyActiv Diesel from their recent agreement. The UK Lexus site states that the IS250 starts at 1555 kg (3428 lbs), or 77 lbs lighter than the IS200t.
different weight measurement standards between US and Europe.... I checked one of the Lexus EU pages for IS250 weights (1640kg minimum) but they were different in each site... so at the end, downloaded actual Lexus Germany PDF brochure which has more info, it says 1.630–1.720kg.Originally Posted by JDR76
That's interesting. The European press release quoted 1590 kg (3505lbs). The US Lexus site quotes the RWD IS250 at 3461 lbs (1570 kg), meaning the IS200t is actually 44 lbs heavier than the IS250 it replaces, which seems odd to me. Not sure about transmission weights, but from what I can find online, the 2.0t engine weighs 14 pounds less than the 2.5l V6 (352lbs vs 366lbs).The UK Lexus site states that the IS250 starts at 1555 kg (3428 lbs), or 77 lbs lighter than the IS200t.

For Toyota, we get weight for each option package separately, which is really good... most of the manufacturers just quote lowest possible weight (in pdf brochures).

For sure, that's why I compared the European press release to the UK Lexus site. I figured Lexus would be using the same process.Originally Posted by spwolf

Im disappointed there is no "300t" filing.
Lexus needs to Bring back an inline 6 turbo!!!!!
BMW has great one and MB is coming out with inline 6 turbo very soon.
This time it must be V6 twin-turbo :-POriginally Posted by RNM GS3
This would all make sense, only that Lexus has filed for the names of GS200t, RC200t and IS200t in the US. Therefore nobody knows what this "300" represents.Im disappointed there is no "300t" filing.

It's already known that the IS300 simply means an IS with a detuned 3.5L V6 and AWD. Originally Posted by leaderpvp

I don't believe it... what is the reason to downgrade engine, when you previously had better setup?Originally Posted by ydooby

the only reason, they will release also newer 350...
In case 300 will be top of the line - he MUST be powered over previous 350's.
just a tendency...

as revealed 2016 2GR will come pushed to 311hp... not a tendency

200t comes to replace 250... he is faster, more powerful... still i don't like L4... V engines proven as best engines in terms of reliability.

there are both IS300 and IS350 released in the USA... Previous speculation by some members pretending they might have insider knowledge into IS350 being discontinued was simply false.Originally Posted by leaderpvp

So instead of IS250 AWD, they released much nicer IS300 AWD for similar price (i guess)... thats a win-win situation for the customers. IS350 and IS350 AWD stay in the markets where they were offered previously.

yeah, the price is similar to what IS250 had... and as you said, it is a nice replacement, as i am myself prever V6 over L4Turbo, and i am really happy for IS300 not hybrid. Originally Posted by spwolf
