1 Attachment(s)

BEIJING – April 10, 2015 - The new Lexus ES luxury sedan will make its global debut at Auto Shanghai 2015 on April 20, 2015.

The Lexus ES established a unique and important position in the luxury sedan segment with its elegant styling, extraordinary quality, and Lexus' best-in-class service when it was introduced in 1989. More than 1.7 million units have been sold globally over the past 25 years.

The new Lexus ES maintains its classical elegance while conveying a more dynamic experience and luxurious craftsmanship. The ES will be on display April 22-29, 2015 at the Lexus booth in Hall 7.1 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center at Auto Shanghai 2015.
These headlights show dramatic difference to current model... grille seems way more prominent too... Totally unexpected IMHO.

Didn't know a new ES was due. Is this the next gen?

4TehNguyen 04-09-15 06:48 PM

Dual projector lighting? Going back to the orginal roots of the early ES 300?
iM Very much looking forward to this! Always liked the ES.

Looks like they got rid of the metal horizontal bit and made it into a full spindle

Looks like they're just changing the front bumper and headlights, and likely the rear will see some minor visual updates as well. The most boring part of the ES design is the slab sides, which probably won't see any changes.

Doesn't surprise me. The ES is in a field now that has a lot more competitors than it used to, a more dramatic front and rear, I bet some molding on the sides, interior enhancements with much better materials. Very excited because I am entirely underwhelmed by the current car...which is why I upgraded to the GS.

Pamperme 04-09-15 08:25 PM

I hope they upgrade the interior, because it took a turn for the worse and got real cheap looking and feeling.

Toys4RJill 04-09-15 08:51 PM

After seeing some of the latest Lexus products, I am terrified to see what they are going show.

Plus the new engine same as RX.

stlgrym3 04-09-15 09:59 PM

yeah, this is a MMC, not a full redesign. my guess is it's gonna have the same powertrain as the new RX350 which has a more powerful 3.5L V6 and 8 speed auto. wow, if that's true then it'd definitely take some sales away from the GS sedan, i know not everyone cares about RWD vs FWD.

People who buy the GS do, the GS is an enthusiast purchase.

RXSF 04-09-15 10:47 PM

I dont think there will be moulding on the doors, the industry as a whole moved away from those ugly things. My guess is new rear tail lights, the new headlights and grill, and stitching/pleather on the center console sides. A new power train would be wishful thinking, but Id like to be proven wrong

Fizzboy7 04-09-15 11:22 PM

Misleading thread title, which is becoming an epidemic in the auto journalist field. This is not "the new ES," but a basic facelift. New lights, grille, and interior trim will be about it, so nothing surprising here. I'd be shocked if they added the new RX engine. Those who have bought the current ES have not complained about lack of power.
