Wow that is so ugly.

I know Dodge is trying to get away from the current "gunsight" grill they've had on all their cars for the past 10-20 years now, look at the 2015 Charger as an example, which has grown on me.

I still hope this isn't their solution for the trucks though, and this is just a concept or just the top trim level. Cause that is so UGLY.

Also, what was ever wrong with calling the trucks a Dodge? I really don't care for that Ram name or that stupid Ram logo that looks like a vagina.

Most likely just the results of good sales. Although it still doesn't sell in F-150 or Silverado numbers, the Ram nameplate on the newer models handily outsells the old Dodge logo by a good margin. Not only that, but the new Rams produced in the last couple of years have been a real pleasure to drive. They essentially ride and handle like big sedans, not trucks, while still maintaining big work-truck capabilities.

They would've sold the same number of trucks if they called it a Dodge, a Ram, or a Dodge Ram. Still the same great truck and no need for a name change.

Ask a guy what sort of truck he drives and he'll tell you FIRST, EVERY TIME a Ford, a Dodge, a Chevy, a Toyota. Most people won't say, oh I drive a Ram, a Tundra, a K2500. Hell my Toyota truck doesn't even have a model name, didn't need one made up by the marketing department for them to sell a few million of the little buggers back in the 80's and 90's.

This is just limited to the top trim. The RAM Rebel has its own unique grille too, as seen below. Also the main reason RAM was spun off into its own brand was because it was being prepared for sale during the bankruptcy time period. They ultimately kept it that way- I'm fine with it as FCA has clarified their brand strategy. Each brand has a specific focus and there's nothing wrong with that.

Rebel grille:

It looks like a giant bowtie. I like the black grille that debuted on an offroad package a few weeks ago.

Default Ram 1500 Black Sport & Ignition Orange Sport announced

Production will be limited to 1,000 units of each model

Ram has announced plans to offer two new special editions called the 1500 Black Sport and the 1500 Ignition Orange Sport.

First up, the Ram 1500 Black Sport has a black exterior that draws inspiration from the popular Black Express model. The truck also has a black interior with leather seats and Light Black chrome accents.

The Ram 1500 Ignition Orange Sport goes in a different direction as it features a unique bright orange paint job. The truck also has two-tone seats, body color accent stitching and "Sport" embroidery on the seats.

Both models are based on the Ram 1500 Sport Crew Cab and feature a ventilated hood, a dual exhaust system and 20-inch alloy wheels. Other notable highlights include a rearview camera, an 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system with GPS navigation and a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine that produces 395 bhp (294 kW). It is connected to an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission which can be paired to an optional four-wheel drive system.

The trucks will go up for order this week and the packages add $1,595 to the $41,020 base price - excluding a $1,195 destination charge - of the Ram 1500 Sport Crew Cab.

Apparently Ford saw it as a challenge:

Post Ram Introduces Two New Sport Editions for its 1500 Pickup Truck

Ram has unveiled the 1500 Ignition Orange Sport and 1500 Black Sport limited edition models, which get exterior and interior styling upgrades.

The Ram 1500 Ignition Orange Sport features a limited edition bright orange paint and body-colored accents, while the 1500 Black Sport takes design cues from the Black Express package, including black 20-inch wheels and a sport hood.

On the inside, the Ignition Orange Sport model features body color accent stitching, Sport embroidery on the seat backs, orange Ram’s head on the headrests and orange sport mesh on the seat inserts.

The Black Sport model interior is nearly all black with leather and Light Black chrome accents. Both trucks get the 8.4AN Uconnect system with navigation and standard rear view camera system.

Ram will build 1,000 trucks from each edition, which are available in Crew Cab 4x2 and 4x4. Among the standard features in the Sport trim, both trucks include a 395hp Hemi V8, 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission, 3.92 gear set, dual exhaust, vented sport hood and 20-inch wheels.

Orders for the two models open this week, with production starting in April. The packages are equally priced at $1,595, while the starting price of a Ram 1500 Sport Crew Cab 4x2 is $41,020 (excluding $1,195 destination).
