Audi Teases Tesla Rivalling Electric Crossover, Possibly Named Q6 e-tron
Based on the MLB platform
Audi has released the first official rendering depicting the Q6 all-electric SUV.
Showed at the company’s annual press conference, the computer drawing previews a future BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe rival that will be powered by an all-electric powerplant. The machine will likely use a similar system to the R8 e-tron, but will reportedly have a range of 293 km (185 miles) on a single charge. The new vehicle will be based on the same MLB platform that underpins the Q7 and will feature a 100 kWh battery pack.
In terms of design, the new SUV will be heavily influenced by the Prologue concept, according to Ulrich Hackenberg, Audi’s R&D boss. Autocar reports the Q6 won’t arrive much before the end of 2017.
Meanwhile, during the same press conference, Audi has reconfirmed again the production of the Q8 flagship SUV model. “The Q8 will come,” Hackenberg commented. “It will be something new, following designs established on the Prologue concept. It will be positioned as something more emotional and more sporty than the Q7. The Q7 will be a car for seven people, the Q8 will be more coupe-like.”
According to Autocar, the Q8 has been green-lighted and is progressing through a development program with sales expected to start within the next three years.

Audi Q6 e-tron to have up to 500 bhp of electric power
Could have 100 kWh battery
British media has managed to acquire some spicy details about the Audi Q6 e-tron scheduled to come out in 2018.
It was only a few days ago when Audi teased an all-electric Q6 and now CAR says the car will compete directly with the Tesla Model X and could feature a battery pack with a capacity of 100 kWh. Initially, it will be offered in two configurations: 300 bhp (223 kW) & 332 lb-ft (449 Nm) and 400 bhp (299 kW) & 479 lb-ft (649 Nm), with both providing a maximum range close to 200 miles (322 km).
Interestingly, the report mentions Audi is cooking up a more potent "RS-spec" version which will provide as much as 500 bhp (373 kW) and 553 lb-ft (749 Nm), but this probably won't be available right away so it will likely come out towards the end of the decade.
The Audi Q6 e-tron will ride on the same MLB platform as the next-gen Q5 and will be assembled in an existing factory. It will allegedly carry a starting price of approximately Ł60,000 (about $89,150 / €84,270) when it goes on sale sometime in 2018.
