Default 78k Chrysler 200 sedans recalled for stalling

Statement: Electrical Connectors

August 14, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is conducting a voluntary safety recall to correct a condition in an estimated 77,834 U.S.-market sedans that may lead to engine stall or gearshift to neutral.

The Company is unaware of any related injuries or accidents. The condition, which may be accompanied by a dashboard warning-light illumination, does not affect air-bag function.

An investigation by FCA US revealed some electrical connectors were damaged when the supplier conducted post-production validation tests.

Affected are certain 2015 Chrysler 200 midsize sedans. Additional vehicles also are included in campaign. Of these, approximately 7,115 are in Canada; 848 are in Mexico; and 19 are outside the NAFTA region

Affected customers will be advised when they may schedule service, which will be performed free of charge.

Customers with questions or concerns may call the FCA US Customer Care Center at 1-800-853-1403.

Default 2014-15 Chevy Impala recalled over airbag fault

Report Receipt Date: JUL 24, 2015
NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V465000
Component(s): AIR BAGS

Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
SUMMARY:
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Impala vehicles manufactured April 15, 2013, to June 19, 2015, equipped with front vented-heated passenger seats. Accordingly, the Automatic Occupant Sensing (AOS) system may fail to suppress the front passenger air bag if a child seat is in the front passenger seat. These vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
CONSEQUENCE:
If the front passenger air bag deploys with a child seat in the front passenger seat, it increases the risk of injury to the child.
REMEDY:
GM will notify owners, and dealers will correct the calibration-learning error by preconditioning the empty seat, and also resetting the ECU to a seat zero-value, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 15400.
NOTES:
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Default GM expands headlight recall to 180k Buicks and Pontiacs

General Motors is issuing an expanded headlight module recall to include 180,504 examples in North America of the 2005 Buick LaCrosse (2008 model year pictured above) and 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. Specifically, the campaign affects 159,584 of them in the US and 20,920 in Canada. When the part fails, the vehicles' low beams can stop working either intermittently or permanently.

"GM is unable to confirm any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this condition," the company said in a statement, and there's currently no permanent repair for the problem. For now, dealers will replace the headlamp module with a new example of the same part.

The automaker first announced this campaign in November 2014 when it affected 316,357 examples globally of the 2006-09 Buick LaCrosse; 2006-2007 Chevy TrailBlazer and TrailBlazer EXT; 2006-2007 GMC Envoy and 2006 GMC Envoy XL; 2006-2007 Buick Rainier; 2006-2008 Saab 9-7X; and 2006-08 Isuzu Ascender.

Default Tesla, VW remain only Takata airbag users without recalls

TOKYO (Bloomberg) -- Volkswagen AG and Tesla Motors Inc. are the only automakers that have avoided U.S. recalls while continuing to use Takata Corp. airbag inflators, which have triggered a global safety crisis.

Takata has produced 887,055 airbag inflators for Volkswagen since January 2011, and a combined 184,926 units for Tesla since January 2012, and the two companies are ongoing customers, Takata said in a letter last month to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The agency had asked Takata in June to list the companies in North America that it supplies with inflators containing ammonium nitrate propellant.

The disclosure highlights the potential risk for Volkswagen and Tesla to join 11 automakers already recalling vehicles, if investigations determine that ammonium nitrate is unsafe to use.

Takata has said that the chemical appears to be one of many contributing factors into the airbag ruptures, along with flawed manufacturing processes. About 32 million vehicles have been recalled in the U.S., and the devices are linked to eight deaths and 130 injuries.

“I’m very sure that the propellant is the problem,” Jochen Siebert, managing director at JSC Automotive Consulting, said by phone. “Of course, if you add a bad process on top of that, it only makes this even worse.”

Takata is still compiling data on any airbags the company supplied to carmakers that installed them in vehicles manufactured outside the U.S. and then later imported them. The company will pass on that information to NHTSA when it’s ready, according to the letter.

Jared Levy, a spokesman for Takata, declined to comment on whether the inflators made for Tesla and Volkswagen are different from those that prompted recalls by other carmakers.

Tesla, Volkswagen

Tesla said Monday that Takata has assured the Model S maker that it’s not affected by the recalls.

Volkswagen spokesman Michael Franke said the automaker is investigating potential safety concerns with Takata side airbags and is cooperating with NHTSA.

NHTSA is asking VW and Takata for more information about a June accident in which a side airbag ruptured in a 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan.

“What we’re trying to do is gather up all the information that we can about the entire universe of these inflators,” Gordon Trowbridge, a NHTSA spokesman, said of the order the regulator sent Takata in June. “We’re not asking because we’ve got reports of problems; we just need to figure out what the universe is.”

The use of ammonium nitrate appears to be one of many contributing factors to air bag malfunctions, Kevin Kennedy, Takata’s executive vice president for North America, told a House committee in June.

That same month, a Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV executive said the company made a permanent switch to an alternate inflator design from ZF TRW Automotive that doesn’t use ammonium nitrate as propellant.

When pressed by lawmakers about the safety of ammonium nitrate, Kennedy has emphasized the growing role Takata’s competitors are playing in making replacement inflators that don’t use the chemical.

TRW, Autoliv Inc. and Daicel Corp. made about half of the replacement inflators for recalled cars in June, Takata said in its letter. The company estimated that its competitors will make about 68 percent of the inflators by March.

Default FCA recalls over 200k Jeep Cherokees for windshield wiper static

STATEMENT: CONTROL MODULE

August 31, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is recalling an estimated 158,671 SUVs in the U.S. to help protect their control modules from static buildup that may potentially disable the vehicles' windshield wipers.

An investigation by FCA US discovered static buildup may occur if the vehicles' windshield wipers are activated during dry conditions. Significant static buildup may affect a control module that powers the wipers.

The Company is unaware of any related injuries or accidents.

Affected are model-year 2014 Jeep Cherokee SUVs. An estimated 18,366 vehicles will be recalled in Canada, as will an estimated 3,582 in Mexico and 26,049 outside the NAFTA region.

Dealers will install a ground strap to the control module to eliminate the potential for static buildup. Customers will be advised when they may schedule service, which will be performed at no cost.

Customers with concerns may call the FCA US Customer Information Center at 1-800-853-1403.

###

Completion-Rate Incentives

August 31, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC has begun contacting customers who are eligible for certain recall-completion incentives.

Ranging from $100 prepaid cards to vehicle-repurchase plans, the incentives are designed to boost completion rates for certain ongoing recalls involving older SUVs and model-year 2009-2012 trucks, for which remedies were not immediately available.

"Remedies are available, we are servicing vehicles and we encourage affected customers to contact their dealers," says Scott Kunselman, Senior Vice President – Vehicle Safety and Regulatory Compliance. "It is imperative that all vehicles implicated by recalls are inspected and serviced, as required."

Mailings to incentive-eligible customers affected by NHTSA recall 13V-252 (FCA US N45 and N46) are complete. The offers therein pertain to 1993-1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty SUVs that were unremedied as of July 24, 2015.

Information about a vehicle's eligibility may be determined by inputting its Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) into the search engines at any of the following sites:

If its status is "open," it is unremedied and therefore eligible.

A vehicle's VIN can be found at the base of its windshield – on the driver's side – or on the placard affixed to the driver's-side doorjamb. The placard also indicates when the vehicle was assembled.

Owners of the affected Grand Cherokee vehicles may choose one of two options:
- Receive a $100 Visa Prepaid Card for unrestricted use upon completion of recall-related service. (Customers who had their recalls completed on or after July 24, 2015, also are entitled to receive the prepaid card.)
- Trade in the vehicle and receive a $1,000 incentive toward the purchase of a new vehicle, or a $1,000 Visa Prepaid Card usable for parts or service at the FCA US dealership accepting the trade-in.

Owners of the affected Liberty SUVs will, on completion of the recall-related service, receive a $100 Visa Prepaid Card for unrestricted use.

Mailings to eligible customers affected by NHTSA recalls 13V-038, 13V-527 and 13V-529 (FCA US N08, R16 and N49, respectively) began today. The offers therein pertain to the following vehicles, provided they were unremedied as of July 24, 2015:

- 2009 Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango SUVs produced from Jan. 3, 2008, through Dec. 18, 2008
- 2009-2012 Dodge Ram/Ram 1500 pickups produced from Feb. 27, 2008, through June 30, 2009; and from Dec. 1, 2009, through Oct. 20, 2011
- 2009-2011 Dodge Dakota pickups produced from Feb. 27, 2007, through June 30, 2009; and from Dec. 1, 2009, through Sept. 30, 2011
- 2008-2012 Dodge Ram/Ram 2500 and 3500 4x4 pickups
- 2008-2012 Dodge Ram/Ram 2500 4x2 Cab Chassis vehicles
- 2008 Dodge Ram/Ram Mega Cab 4x4 pickups
- 2008-2012 Dodge Ram/Ram 4500 and 5500 trucks produced from Feb. 20, 2007, through December 2012

Owners of eligible vehicles from the above list may schedule service and, upon completion, receive a $100 Visa PrePaid Card for unrestricted use. Customers who had their recalls completed on or after July 24, 2015, also are entitled to receive the prepaid card.

Alternately, customers may negotiate trade-ins on new vehicles – a program that expires at midnight, Jan. 4, 2016 – or opt for a repurchase plan that, like the prepaid card incentives, has no expiry date.

Information about a vehicle's eligibility may be determined by inputting its VIN into the search engines at www.recalls.mopar.com or www.safercar.gov. If its status is "open," it is unremedied and therefore eligible.

To take advantage of the trade-in offer, a customer and dealer establish a value for the trade-in vehicle, complete the purchase of a new vehicle and receive – in addition to all current applicable incentives – a $2,000 incentive on a Ram-brand vehicle or $1,000 on a Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge or Fiat vehicle.

To participate in the repurchase program, customers are instructed – beginning Sept. 1, 2015 – to visit www.fcarecall.com. There they will see a preliminary estimated value of their vehicles, according to "good" market value, plus 10%.

Modification costs are excluded unless verification is provided to show the modification was part of the original purchase.

Beginning Oct. 1, 2015, customers may contact dealers to arrange for vehicle inspections. Dealers will then call a third-party administrator to complete the inspection and present a final offer to customers, who then have three options:

- Opt for the recall repair and receive a $100 Visa Prepaid Card for unrestricted use
- Accept the repurchase offer
- Opt for the trade-in incentive, which is available through Jan. 4, 2016

"We are committed to further improving our recall completion rates," Kunselman says. "The added benefit of our efforts, we hope, will be to elevate public awareness of the need to respond to recall notices, and a greater understanding of the recall process, in general."

FCA US has completed its 30-day deliverables under its Consent Order with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In addition to the launch of the incentive programs, these deliverables included the selection of a third-party consultant – Deloitte – to conduct a comprehensive review and evaluation of the Company's existing processes and procedures for compliance with NHTSA regulations and assist in the development of best practices.

Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.

SUMMARY:
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2012-2015 Nissan Versa sedan vehicles manufactured June 9, 2011, to March 11, 2015, and 2014-2015 Nissan Versa Note vehicles manufactured April 23, 2013, to March 11, 2015. The affected vehicles have a center console trim panel that may catch the driver's shoe and delay the transition from the accelerator pedal to the brake pedal.

CONSEQUENCE:
A delay in the application of the brake pedal would lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash.

REMEDY:
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will modify the console trim panel, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin by mid-October 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

1 Associated Investigation(s)

NHTSA Action Number: EA15003 Pedal Operation Interference

SUMMARY:

On June 24, 2014, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE14-018 to investigate allegations that the tunnel carpet cover trim panel on model year (MY) 2012 through 2014 Nissan Versa, Versa Sedan and Versa Note vehicles has, in certain situations, interfered with the driver's ability to promptly release the accelerator pedal and transition to the brake pedal. This may result in delayed brake application or brief incidents of unwanted acceleration. At the opening of PE14-018, ODI had identified one complaint, VOQ 10597004, alleging that the driver's foot became caught by the subject trim panel to the extent that the driver decided that it was necessary to pull on their leg to get the foot free of the interference, almost causing a crash. The trim panel in question (Figure 1) is located next to the accelerator pedal and the lower corner is positioned such that it is near the right outer edge of the driver's shoe. The complainant supplied a photograph (Figure 2) showing how the edge of the panel wedged itself in the driver's shoe. Complainant 10573057 alleged that when attempting to remove their foot from the accelerator pedal to apply the brake, their shoe was caught by the trim panel which delayed braking ability several times. During the investigation, ODI received a VOQ, 10614957, that alleged that the driver's foot was interfered with by the trim panel, delaying the driver's ability to apply the brakes, resulting in a crash and minor injuries to the driver. In addition, ODI has received VOQs alleging that the HVAC relay actuator, Figures 3 and 4, can also interfere with the driver's ability to react quickly to apply the brakes. MY 2015 Versa Sedan and Note vehicles have been added to the scope of the investigation as they are believed to have the same panel design and actuator placement as the subject vehicles. An Engineering Analysis has been opened to asses the scope, frequency and safety-related consequences of the alleged defect. The subject vehicles from PE14-018 have been revised to exclude the MY 2012 Versa models because they do not use the same trim panel design. The VOQs associated with this investigation are: 10649259, 10614957, 10610356, 10606766, 10606670, 10597004, 10498000, 10640644, 10606832, 10573057, and 10503811.

NISSAN ARMADA 2015
Details

Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.

SUMMARY:
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2015 Nissan Armada vehicles manufactured April 30, 2015, to June 5, 2015. The affected vehicles may have been built with driver or front passenger seat belt assemblies that may not properly latch or that may not unlatch when the release button is pressed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection" and number 209, " Seat Belt Assemblies."

CONSEQUENCE:
A seat belt that does not properly latch would not restrain a user, increasing their risk of injury in the event of a crash. A seat belt that does not properly unlatch when the release button is pressed may prevent the occupant from quickly exiting the vehicle in a emergency, such as after a crash, increasing their risk of injury.

REMEDY:
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the both front seat belt buckle assemblies, replacing them as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin by early October 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

Default Jeep Renegade recalled to prevent hacking

Statement: Software Update
September 4, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is conducting a voluntary safety recall to update software in approximately 7,810 U.S.-market SUVs equipped with certain radios. More than half remain in dealer hands and will be serviced before they are sold.

The campaign – which involves radios that differ from those implicated in another, similar recall – is designed to protect connected vehicles from remote manipulation. If unauthorized, such interference constitutes a criminal act.

FCA US has already applied measures to prevent the type of vehicle manipulation demonstrated in a recent media report. These measures – which required no customer or dealer actions – block remote access to certain vehicle systems.

The Company is unaware of any injuries related to software exploitation, nor is it aware of any related complaints, warranty claims or accidents – independent of the media demonstration.

Affected are certain 2015 Jeep Renegade SUVs equipped with 6.5-inch touchscreens. Customers will receive a USB device which they may use to upgrade vehicle software. This provides additional security features.

Alternately, customers may visit http://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/ as early as today to input their Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) and determine if their vehicles are included in the recall. If so, they may download the software themselves or, as early as Sept. 5, visit their dealers where technicians will perform the installation.

There is no charge for the software or, in the case of dealer visit, installation.

The security of FCA US customers is a top priority, as is retaining their confidence in the Company's products. Accordingly, FCA US has established a dedicated System Quality Engineering team focused on identifying and implementing best practices for software development and integration.

The software manipulation addressed by this recall required unique and extensive technical knowledge, prolonged physical access to a subject vehicle and extended periods of time to write code.

No defect has been found. FCA US is conducting this campaign out of an abundance of caution.

Customers are urged to acquire the software update. Those with questions or concerns may call the FCA US Customer Care Center at 1-800-853-1403.

Default Four Ram recalls affect more than a million pickups

Statement: Steering-wheel Wiring Harness

September 10, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is conducting a voluntary safety recall to inspect and service, as required, wiring harnesses in an estimated 1.06 million U.S.-market trucks.

Investigation by FCA US discovered certain trucks may have steering-wheel wiring harnesses that wear because of contact with a spring. Such wear may cause a short-circuit that may lead to inadvertent driver-side air-bag deployment.

The Company is aware of two related injuries, but no accidents. An analysis of warranty data linked to steering-wheel wiring harnesses determined less than one percent of all such repairs involved inadvertent air-bag deployment.

The condition, which may be signaled by illumination of the air-bag warning light, relates to vehicles equipped with an Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) and may not be present in every vehicle subject to the recall. But FCA US will, at no charge to customers, inspect every affected vehicle and, as required, tie back its wiring harness and install protective caps on its air-bag retainer spring-ends.

Affected are certain model-year 2012-2014 Ram 1500, 2500 and 2500 pickups and 3500, 4500 and 5500 Chassis Cabs. Additional vehicles numbering approximately 235,925 in Canada; 26,543 in Mexico and 23,635 outside the NAFTA region, also will be recalled.

Notices are now being mailed to advise affected customers when they may schedule service. FCA US urges all customers to read their notices and respond accordingly.

Alternately, customers may visit http://recalls.mopar.com/ or https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/ to determine if their vehicles are included in this campaign.

Customers with questions or concerns may call the FCA US Customer Care Center at 1-800-853-1403

Statement: Side-curtain Air-bag

September 10, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is recalling an estimated 188,000 trucks in the U.S. to make their side-curtain air-bags compliant with a federal regulation to reduce the risk of rear occupant ejection during a rollover.

The Company is unaware of any related injuries, accidents or complaints. And all FCA US vehicles are equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), which reduces the risk of rollovers.

The recall involves model-year 2014 and 2015 Ram 1500 Quad Cab pickups. Affected owners will be advised when they may schedule service, which will be performed at no cost to them.

FCA US advises vehicle occupants to wear their seatbelts, as NHTSA and other safety advocates recommend for occupants of all vehicles.

Customers may also call the FCA US Customer Information Center at 1-800-853-1403.

SUMMARY:
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Ram 1500 Quad Cab trucks manufactured August 26, 2013, to August 8, 2015. The affected vehicles are equipped with side air bag inflatable curtains (SABIC) that may not fully overlap the C-pillars in the event of a vehicle crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."

CONSEQUENCE:
In the event of a vehicle crash, if a SABIC does not inflate as intended, there is an increased risk of injury to the rear seat occupant.

REMEDY:
The remedy for this recall is still under development. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R47.

NOTES:
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Bracket Welds

September 10, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is recalling an estimated 156,498 heavy-duty trucks in the U.S. to inspect and repair, as required, bracket welds that may lead to diminished steering response.

An investigation by FCA US discovered certain supplied steering components may have welds with insufficient fusion. This may lead to separation, which may affect steering; capability remains, but with diminished response.

The Company is unaware of any related injuries. FCA US is aware of a single minor accident related to the condition.

Affected are certain 2013 Ram 3500 pickups, 2014 Ram 2500/3500 pickups and 3500 Chassis Cabs. Additional vehicles, estimated to number 20,603 in Canada and 13,236 in Mexico, are also subject to recall. The Mexico population includes certain 2014 Ram 1500 pickups exclusive to that market.

An estimated 3,241 vehicles outside the NAFTA region also are affected.

Affected customers will be advised next month to contact their dealers and schedule an inspection. If warranted, the brackets will be repaired.

A second mailing will then advise customers to have their dealers install a reinforcement bracket, provided their vehicles were not repaired in the campaign's first phase. All service will be performed at no cost.

Customers with additional questions may call the FCA US Customer Information Center at 1-800-853-1403.

Statement: Wiring Harness
September 9, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is recalling an estimated 1,747 trucks in the U.S. and Canada to inspect, reroute and replace – as required – their wire harnesses to prevent a potential short-circuit.

An investigation by FCA US discovered a battery wiring harness may chafe against a bracket if assembly protocols were not followed. This condition is limited to vehicles equipped with diesel engines and 4x2 drivelines.

Such a condition has the potential to cause a short-circuit, which may lead to power loss or fire. The Company is unaware of any related injuries, accidents or fires.

The campaign is limited to certain 2014-15 Ram 1500 pickups. It is estimated there are 1,697 in the U.S. and 50 in Canada.

Affected customers will be advised next month when they may schedule service, which will be performed at no cost.

While the condition may not be present in every vehicle, FCA US urges customers to note the information on their recall notices and respond accordingly.

Illumination of a dashboard warning light is among the indicators that the condition is present. Customers who observe such a warning are encouraged to contact their dealers.

Customers with additional questions may call the FCA US Customer Information Center at 1-800-853-1403.

Default Dodge recalls 27k Darts for bracket that can disrupt transmission module

Statement: Mounting Bracket

September 14, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is recalling an estimated 23,688 cars in the U.S. to replace certain control modules and mounting brackets that may contribute to a loss of motive power.

The Company is unaware of any related injuries or accidents.

An FCA US investigation prompted by a small number of warranty claims discovered a control-module mounting bracket may apply too much force and disrupt the function of a circuit board within the module. This condition, unique to certain cars equipped with dual dry-clutch transmissions (DDCT), may cause the transmission to shift into neutral. However, the engine remains on and the vehicle's air-bags, as well as other safety features, are unaffected.

The condition may also be preceded by the illumination of a dashboard warning light. Customers who observe this are urged to contact their dealers.

The campaign is limited to certain 2013-2015 Dodge Darts equipped with DDCTs. Additional vehicles will be recalled in Canada (3,376), Mexico (five) and outside the NAFTA region (451).

Affected customers will be advised when they may schedule service, which will be performed free of charge. Service will entail installation of a redesigned mounting bracket and replacement of the control module.

Customers with additional questions may call the FCA US Customer Information Center at 1-800-853-1403.

Default Toyota recalls 423.5k RAV4s for faulty windshield wipers

TOYOTA RECALLS CERTAIN RAV4 and RAV4 EV VEHICLES FOR WINDSHIELD WIPERS

TORRANCE, Calif., September 17, 2015 – Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. today announced that it is conducting a safety recall of approximately 421,000 Model Year 2009-2012 RAV4 and approximately 2,500 Model Year 2012-2014 RAV4 EV vehicles.

In the involved vehicles, water dripping onto the windshield wiper link can, over time, cause corrosion and wear at the wiper link joint. In some cases this could result in the separation of the wiper link from the wiper motor crank arm. If separation occurs, the windshield wipers could become inoperative, which could reduce driver visibility and increase the risk of a vehicle crash.

Owners of the involved vehicles will be notified by first class mail. Toyota dealers will replace the water channel, wiper link, and wiper motor crank arm with new ones.

Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is subject to change over time. For the most up-do-date Safety Recall information on Toyota, Lexus or Scion vehicles, customers should check their vehicle's status by visiting toyota.com/recall and entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Safety Recall inquiry by individual VIN is also available at the NHTSA site: safercar.gov/vin. For any additional questions, customer support is also available by calling Toyota Customer Service at 1-800-331-4331, or Lexus Customer Service at 1-800-255-3987.

Details

Manufacturer: Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc.

SUMMARY:
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (Mitsubishi) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Lancer Evolution vehicles manufactured January 31, 2014, to September 5, 2014, and 2014-2015 Lancer Ralliart vehicles manufactured February 3, 2014, to September 5, 2014. The affected turbocharged vehicles have a right parking brake cable that may contact the fuel tank, wearing away the tank's protective coating.
