Dodge has announced the 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat will become the "most powerful muscle car" ever created when it goes on sale later this year.
While the company has previously said the car's supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine would produce more than 600 bhp (447 kW), the final number is a staggering 707 bhp (527 kW) and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque. To put these numbers in perspective, the Challenger SRT Hellcat trumps everything from the Lamborghini Aventador to Dodge's own Viper SRT.
Chrysler declined to release full specifications but they said the 707 bhp (527 kW) will only be available to drivers who use a special red key fob. The model will also come with a black key fob that limits the output to 500 bhp (372 kW).
A pair of technicians installs a performance-boosting Scat Pack 1 from Chrysler Group LLC's Mopar brand on a 2015 Dodge Challenger. Scat Pack 1 includes new exhaust system, cold-air intake, high-flow oil filter and new powertrain controller.

hate to be a downer with those incredile numbers mentioned...but....sadly I bet it will be crazy (over)priced.
I'm not sure if I can call it overpriced when all the changes are being made to a low-volume model. It's not like they're going to be sharing the costs of the development of the Hellcat across multiple vehicles...although I'm praying for a Charger/JGC equivalent.
It's named the "SRT Hellcat" and the "red key" edition boasts 707 HP along with 650 lb -ft of torque and an 8 speed Torque Flight transmission. The black key" edition only has 500 HP.
Pretty impressive numbers. I think this may have been posted in the other Challenger thread. Kind of nit-picking, but it is an SRT model, not R/T. Also, it's not a black and red key "edition," IIRC, the car has two different keys (one black and one red) which somehow dictate how much HP can be used. All of it with the red and (only) 500 with the black key - as you noted above.
Good for Dodge. But now the Viper must be uncorked more !
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This! Besides the fact that the Track pack aka Motor Trend edition is almost on par with the last ZR1, the new C7 is gonna give the Viper a good run for it's money. Dodge needs to step up it's game with the Viper. Hardcore.
