That's because the Challenger is a traditional high-performance car. They may keep the V8 around for a while longer. But, outside of a few cars like this and some heavier-duty trucks and SUVs, I wouldn't count on seeing too many of them left after the next several years. OK, maybe a few top-line luxury cars like the LS460 and S-class...but eventually I think even they will also get smaller power plants if non-hybrid.

The V8 will live on... Todays V8's have the performance of last years V12 and the fuel economy of last years V6's.

Small displacement, forced induction, cylinder deactivation, and efficient transmissions help V8 stay alive...

Yes the days of the BIG n/a v8 are long gone (such as the 6.2 in my CLS63) but these new ones are pretty damn good too.

Default What Would You Say to a 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Shooting Brake?

Dodge certainly has our attention with its new Challenger SRT Hellcat. Even though the series, in general, is showing its age and previous-decade origins on many fronts, the 600+ horsepower figure and the aural drama from the new supercharged HEMI V8 promise to give the coupe a breath of fresh air.

Speaking about coupe, the only other body style that was ever seriously considered at some point was a convertible, but Hungarian digital artist X-Tomi has another idea up his sleeve; a shooting brake-style model that keeps the two doors and extends the roof over neatly the boot, which he realized in this render.

It doesn't look bad in this picture, but we'd have to see it from different angles to form a better opinion, especially the profile and rear end. Thoughts?
