Default Lexus to Add Smartphone Powered Navigation - Lexus Enthusiast

Well this is interesting. It looks like, for some 17 models without navigation, you'll be able to use navigation on your display audio screen through your phone.

Lexus USA will be adding a smartphone-powered navigation system to the standard package on select 2017 models. Called Scout GPS Link, the system relies on an app available for both Apple & Android devices
Scout GPS Link navigation will not interfere with other smartphone features like music or phone calls, and also works with voice activation and search commands.

The new system will be standard on the 2017 RX, IS, ES, NX, and RC F models equipped with the Display Audio Controller.
It doesn't sound like uses Apple Maps or Google Maps, so I am curious if this Scout app will be any good.

Toyota's have had this for a lot of their 2016 model cars.

Descriptions, pictures and videos available here: http://www.toyota.com/entune/support/eap/scout-gps/

reviews on itunes don't seem positive: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/scou...866180950?mt=8

I'd much rather just have Apple CarPlay and/or Android Auto, those are bit more seamless than this.
