At the very least it seems that there is a delay in getting the vehicle history onto the CarFax site. At least one person is reporting a $20 K vehicle damages dependency.

 

Never trust carfax. Always do experian autocheck and pay 70 at a trusted independent shop.

 

Autocheck showed a previous accident involving my RX300 never shown on Carfax. Not that I cared well after the fact, but it goes to show.

 

In reality, you need both, plus more inspection. When i was searching for my previous car, I found out carfax reported an accident but autocheck didn't. Sometimes neither one will catch anything if the accident was never reported.

I have always wondered about the car fax thing. It seems like a great idea and I have used it for the last car I purchased used. In the end its a slight gamble buying used
