from what I have read, kia's head designer was the audi shreyer guy but hyundai had it's own design team.

it's just kind of sad when a car company has to promote their design pitch as "designed by the former
designer of audi".....that's just not cool.

what's so sad about it? i think it's a feel good story. and a classic case of a globalization.

schreyer is a rockstar and he instantly changed the design culture of Kia from boring to bold(whether people like it or not). think of what kia was before schreyer. think of a pile of poop. that's what kia was.

he was embraced and promoted again to be a president(i think kia has 3) of Kia. and now he is a chief designer over both korean brands. so it's like he was an offensive coordinator who later became a head coach & GM.

that should have taken the Quoris brand rolled with it and branded it as it's own identity.

This could be a follow up to the 2007 Kia Kee concept.

I do like Kia and hyundai.

but I'm just thinking from a design and competitive point of view.

I mean, it's probably the best decision hyundai and kia has ever made.

but if you look at American and European design heritage and history, there are historical implications to their design.

I lol'd pretty hard too . . . The overall design isn't bad. Bu that front end just doesn't look complete. Over sized grill with bucktooth accents have to go.

Jean Jennings talks with Tom Kearns, chief designer at Kia Design Center America, about Kia's new GT4 Stinger Concept.

Considering this is only his second company to work for after Audi and VW (the guy started his career at Audi), I'm not at all surprised by similar design cues.

I'm just glad a Korean company is willing to invest in good looking cars with a "star" designer.

Default Kia exec downplays the possibility of a sports car - report

Company wants to improve their image first

Kia's Peter Schreyer has been pushing for a sports car but it appears it might not be green-lighted as the company's Director of Overseas Marketing has downplayed the idea.

In an interview with Automotive News, Lee Soon-nam said the company needs to improve their image before launching sporty models like the GT and GT4 Stinger concepts. As he explained, "We would like to build our brand image to some level. Then we can maximize the effects of the new car launch."

Soon-nam went on to say the company faces two problems with models like the GT4 Stinger concept. First and foremost, he isn't convinced they could sell enough to make it profitable. He is also concerned that the brand's image isn't strong enough to support it. Speaking of the latter, Lee Soon-nam said "If a Chinese brand introduced a roadster, would it affect customer perception? I don't think so."

Would be curious if a Kia 370Z/Mustang coupe came to market to see what Hyundai would do with the Genesis Coupe
