Default 2014 Mazda3

Set to debut later today, full details and a large selection of photos of the all-new 2014 Mazda3 have leaked online.

Growing in size, with a new look and based on an all new platform the 2014 Mazda3 also gains new powertrains, from tiny 1.5-liter to a larger 2.5-liter SkyActiv motors.

The new hatchback model is roughly1.6-inches wider with a wheelbase that’s been stretched by 2.5-inches for added interior room. The car itself, however, is shorter overall by about two inches.

As for engines, a base 1.5-liter Skyactiv engine will be added making just 100 hp, though don’t expect that option for North America. Instead, the 3 should start with a new version of the current 2.0-liter Skyactiv engine with a slight power bump to 155 hp an 150 b-ft of torque. Those looking for speed (but not quite Mazdaspeed) will be able to get the Mazda6′s 2.5-liter Skyactiv engine making 184 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. In addition, a diesel engine will be offered, though it isn’t yet clear if that will be available in North America.

The 2.0L engine will hit 62 mph in 8.9 seconds, while the larger 2.5-liter will do the same sprint in just 8.2 seconds.

Also of note, the 2014 Mazda3 will be available with the brand’s new i-ELOOP regenerative braking system to help maximize fuel economy.

Cargo room is rated at 12.3 cu-ft and expands to 44 cut-ft with the rear seats folded flat.

Look for even more details and photos when the car is officially revealed at 2:30 EDT.

Looks pretty good, but I'm not a fan of that chrome trim around the grill

from the front it really favors Mercedes design. Still a good looking hatchback.

That hatchback looks really good. Perhaps car-like enough to convince some people that a hatchback is an OK thing to drive. =)

The infotainment screen looks like an afterthought. "Hey lets put this iPad mini right here and cover up the area where the digital clock usually goes". Car looks great otherwise

Expect to see more and more of that. Mercedes and BMW are already doing the same. Doesn't block visibility nearly as badly as the double cowl they used previously. That being said, at least Mazda and BMW make it look like its a docked iPad. Mercedes claims their mounting style makes the screen look like its floating.

We have a low mileage '11 Mazda 3 Sport that we love.

Now if I could just get a front end transplant from smiley face to the new look.

Really nice. This absolutely kills the new Corolla, IMO.

Looks better than current, which to me, is one of the happiest-looking cars on the road. I had an 06 s hatch and I loved that car. I'd definitely consider Mazda if I ever wanted another 4 door hatchback.
