Talking overused word: "proper"

ever since Top Gear began using the word 'proper' for all kinds of things they deemed worthy, sensible, well designed, or representative of a kind (e.g., 'proper sports car'), the word has spread everywhere, particularly on car forums.

does anyone else think it's now ridiculously overused and has lost any 'proper' sense?

The practice of eloquent speech was abandoned along with the education system a long time ago. I hear the word "proper" constantly used as a slang or street word. Bad form.

Ugh, I can't stand "literally" anymore...

But I remember proper being used in the late 90's/early 2000's as a slang term affiliated with hip hop.

My first impression of British auto journalists using "proper" is when they described the last pre-BMW Rolls Royce models as " proper Rolls" ...
