Thanks for posting. The LX is an awesome vehicle which is rugged and refined...

Great post and pics. Always a good-looking truck, inside and out. I miss those clean and simple dashes though. Today's are anything but.
Agreed, spindle works best here. Probably because of the size of the front. There's no "pinched" effect, which the smaller cars suffer from.

While I really do like the LX570, especially the front spindle look and the fact that my husband and I are former owners of a LX470, I am going to have to say that the LX is now a tired formula for the American market. While the vehicle might be great for the world or overseas market, it just not cut it for the US.
The two main issues with the LX are that it is 1/8th too small, and inside, it is begging for room.
The rear seats do not fold flat and cannot be removed, to me this is not a good feature. And because the seats cannot be removed, it takes up so much valuable space inside.
The new QX gets the "American" formula right.
There was a time when the LX sold 15k in the US market, now sales are down to less than 400 a month.
Move it to the Sequoia platform, and Lexus will attract more buyers.
I gotta say, the interior of the LX is indeed lovely.

the QX is such a ugly looking car is not even funny, i agree on the back space/thrid row but i guess they can remove it if they go uni body, again something that alot of folks dont like here.. and hopefully somthing lexus does not chage.
i loved the lx470 and now the lx570, could have bought sequoia and QX but they were too big, isnt the GL even smaller than the LX? i think the current LX is perfect size, for a family of 4 which are your normal buyers here.

My fiance and I are actively looking at the new LX. Having the previous gen LX and the new one available at one of our local dealerships, she test drove both. I must say if there was a benchmark to large SUVs, this clearly is it. Beautiful finish inside and out, buttery smooth transmission, great gadgetry, and luxurious in the driver seat as in the third row seating. I absolutely love the front view camera. Wish the F had it so I wouldn't have to back into and gauge the space from the rear view camera all the time, It might not be practical, but seeing her face as she was driving it- that was the greatest selling point of all.

And I think that sums it up. We tried and test drove an LX570, we tried to load up two children's seats, two strollers...and yikes, that was it. There was bit of space left over but not much, there are other vehicles that offer a better overall package. And I was not impressed with the cooler in the center console, not a great feature.
We could barely fit the two strollers in the rear. While I have no problem with the power, ride, or interior materials, its the size that is the problem.
For some reason, my late 90s LX470 seemed to have more room, and was a lot more functional with removable rear seats.

I really think the elephant in the room is styling. The LX470 looks more timeless and unique than the LX570. Before the addition of the spindle grill, the LX looked like a Highlander XL from the rear. Wish Lexus would have stuck with the 470 design longer instead of going the "curvy" route. I kick myself for not buying a 470 in pearl white.

The LS and LX470/570 are favorites amongst family and friends of mine here and in Africa where roads are so terrible, that you've truly arrived and are invincible if you have a full-size luxury SUV like the LX. For Benz-crazy Africa, these are at times valued more than the GL550 and only answer to the smaller Range Rover for superiority. We do have an LX570 back there, but here in the states favored the QX56 as a family hauler.
UZJ100GXR, thanks for uploading these as brings nostalgia for me when the early LX470 was such a hot item and crushed the status of other full-size SUVs by standing tall in a sea of imitators. BTW, the MY2003-2005 LX did have a different rear from the 2002 model. I remembered an uncle's '04 model having the relocated reverse lights to the license plate area, to likely help illuminate the newly added rear-view camera.

I also discovered that the 100-series platform(LC/LX/Cygnus) offered GPS navigation in Japan for 1998, but not until late 2000 internationally. I still can't believe that the LX470 was designed in 1994-95 and held on for 13 years from scratch to finish.

Mine and my sister's favorite Lexus in the late '90s/Y2K. Prior to it and the LC100, I never really had so much interest in Lexus vehicles. I've come to appreciate over the years the J80 LX450, which was a rushed post-MMC effort during 1995 alongside late design of the LX470.

I honestly don't know how i never noticed that the earlier models didn't have the reverse lights near the license plate, thanks for the input
I did update the original post to include the '03-'05 rear end.
