There was a locked Denali being displayed outside the local theater (also a CTS and Verano). So I only got to peek through the windows. I don't doubt material quality has improved, but there are plenty of criteria than overall fit and finish. The CTS would have been a better candidate IMO.

I would put the 2014 Tundra Platinum over the Denali.

The GS is decent, but I don't care for the big "hole" that occupies the upper dash. It looks like birds could perch in there during a rain storm. Same with the ES, which is cut up with too many layers and shelves.

I do like the Pathfinder's dash. It's symetric, traditional, and free of wild lines or gimmicks.

The XTS would just about be on my list if GM would quit using gaudy chrome all over the place.

All of the vehicles you named were ineligible for this list. None were newly redesigned or heavily revised for 2014.

IMO, the Pagani Huayra has by far the most breathtaking interior I have ever seen in a car.

Hello Clublexus. Except for chevy spark and kia forte, the rest of the interiors are simply beautiful. I especially like Acura interior design even though I haven't been in one. We don't Acuras in Indonesia.

GM uses chrome today for a reason. For years, their interiors (and some of their exteriors), especially Chevy and Pontiac, were little else but a sea of cheap monotone plastic that looked and felt like something out of a dime store. Chrome brought back some dignity to both their interiors and exteriors. I agree, though, that sometimes it can be too much....but, in general, that was far more of a problem back in the chrome-laden late 50s/early 60s than it is today.

As for the XTS, I'm not impressed with its chassis/wheels/tires/suspension and sound insulation. But, as for the interior, even with the awkward finger-slide bars and CUE system, it is worlds ahead of the DTS it replaces.

Unless they gave the odometer weights, IMO the bamboo interior is a bit too yellow when surrounded by the flaxen. I may be biased but I like this one better.

I can see what you are saying about GM trying to liven up their interiors. I just don't agree using chrome is the right material. Something less bright and gaudy, like aluminum, piano black, or good old wood trim would lend tasteful character without glitziness.

You'll find all those, too, in new GM interiors, depending on the model. Like you, I'm a fan of wood-trim (generally, the more the better). But, it can also be argued that, on some occasions, it may (?) have been overdone....such as in the early-model Buick Enclave, which, IMO, looked like a rolling boudoir inside.
