How much do you pay for insurance?
Just being curious over here, so in this thread, write what you drive, what else you have registered, and how much you pay!

geico is by far the cheapest, but its because they use refurbished parts to repair your car if you get into an accident. this is fine by me, since my daily drivers would be traded in if i did get into an accident with them and i rarely drive my other cars. i came from state farm and all state.

My Wife and I (age 49 and 47) both have perfect driving records, never an accident, never a ticket. We both drive the most mundane sedans on earth. (Honda Accord and ES350) We pay $3,200/yr for full coverage. We were with USAA at one time but our rates skyrocketed for no reason (over $4k/yr). We were left with no choice but to drop them.
Living in South Florida has its price, I guess.

I've been with State Farm for many years, am over 50, have no tickets or reported accidents, have a permanent "will never cancel" rider provided by State Farm on the policy, and report my relatively low mileage (7.5K/yr) online every 6 months to help keep rates the lowest possible for me here in Southern California. With loyalty, good driver and multi-policy discounts (Homeowners, etc), my full-coverage, $1K deductible insurance is just over $700/year for my 2013 RX450h. My rate on that policy will be going down by about $100/year because of an additional multi-vehicle discount I'll be eligible for again when I take delivery on my new 2013 roadster next month. (The 4-cyl turbo SLK250 will annually cost me a bit less than the RX450h interestingly enough.)
Rates recently went up a few percentage points after being fairly stable. When I checked with a couple other insurance providers 3-4 years ago, including Geico, they couldn't come close to the same rates and coverage I'm receiving. They were each amazed by, and did not offer, the combination of discounts (~50%) I enjoy. Customer service is also great when I need to contact my agent via fax, phone or in-person. My one claim years ago when my 2-year old Acura was stolen (recovered on day 29) and apartment was fairly cleaned-out while I was on a business trip, was all handled to my satisfaction. I realize all our situations are different and there are more variables than we could ever try to compare here, but I'm very happy with State Farm.
OP, good luck in your pursuit and your new-to-you IS!

I'm paying about $43/mo for full coverage (legal limits of everything), with a $500 deductible on my 2011 335d. Something like $48/mo for the same policy on my wife's 2007 RX350. State Farm, been with the same agent for 15+ years. Multi-vehicle, multi-policy, and good driver discounts all factored in. We're both in our mid-thirties, FWIW.

This is not really something you can compare like this. You may want to ask people that live in your area, in a similar age group and driving record. The $600/yr I pay on my 2013 ES, would probably double if I moved to NY.

Agree. Too many variables. My rates changed dramatically as I moved within CA to HI to AZ to GA and back; Driver's record; Age; Vehicle age & type; etc all play into the insurance equation.

This has been great, I understand I can't compare myself to you guys since there are so many variables, but it's great hearing all this, which company you think is best, just as a normal discussion. But I will look into posting this into the NY forum!

This, way to many variables. I will say we are very happy with State Farm.

There are too many variables to quote a firm price just out of thin air, but, in general, among the big mainstream companies, GEICO seems to have the lowest rates. I've been with them some 30 years and have yet to find a cheaper policy for the same coverage. I also like their 24/7 availability around the clock, numerous discounts available, Accident Forgiveness programs, and the fact that they don't sell or service their customers through traditional agents who get commissions.
Their commercials, though, like those of most major insurance firms, can be corny and annoying to listen to.
