^Same. I kinda want one, but don't need a third row at all.

If they made 3rd row bigger, the car would have to be a lot bigger too... and i am thinking most people dont want that.

It does not make sense to have huge 3rd row for grownups when you then dont have any space for their luggage... in SUVs, 3rd row is for school runs at best... not for family trips.

3 row seats are pretty useless.

it's only good for when you have a bunch of people who spontaneously decides to go on a road trip, how often does that happen ?

we are in the market for a suv right now but they are demanding msrp for this new highlander. We kind of want to stick to toyota due to resale value. The jeep grand cherokee is a close 2nd choice. The 2014 dodge durango is actually the 1st choice in terms of looks and pricing but resale is going to take a beating and their reliability is unproven.

I guess I didn't make it clear I don't want to see any third row seat in the next gen RX. I had a third row jump seat in an '07 Highlander. What a joke. It was never used. I only had it because that is what the dealer had on hand thanks to a SE Toyota regional mandate.

seems like you wont, as they said they would be doing separate vehicle with 3rd row... although I dont see whats bad with fold down 3rd row personally.... 2014 Highlander 3rd row is much nicer than the old one supposedly, still not a minivan though.

I didn't see where that was confirmed. Just speculation because they registered the TX name.
The fold down third row robs you of valuable storage space and may put the spare outside underneath if they decide to include one.

Lexus recently said they were thinking of adding one more SUV with 3rd row to the lineup, pretty much confirmed it with the tone they had (we are missing sales, we have to get it by 2016).

Do we really load SUV to the roof so few inches of trunk is important?

I occasionally need space for 6-7, which includes 4 kids and only for short rides... something like Highlander would work fine.

But again, it is going to be a separate vehicle anyway.

Do we really load SUV to the roof so few inches of trunk is important? What your missing is the well where the third row seatback will flip down to will be at least 6" deep and the length & width of the seat. This is great space for tools and safety gear, etc. to be stowed out of the way.

But again, it is going to be a separate vehicle anyway. I hope your right. I'll feel better when Lexus confirms it.
Will you actually buy one of these TX's?

I guess you don't ever have to drive carpool? We use the 3rd row in our CX-9 1-2 times a week, depending on who's turn it is to drive carpool. And--if we didn't have a 3rd row to fit other kids for carpool, we'd be on our own and driving to every event, both ways--not very convenient.

Maybe it's useless to you, but the fact that so many vehicles have one, or offer it, says otherwise.

It will likely not be offered in Europe... I wish NX had two quick seats :-).

RX here has crazy price, base level is $100k in my country... I cant afford it, rather buy a beach apartment for that money.

We have small Corolla based MPV that has 7 seats and smaller size than Rav4, so it is possible but obviously different priorities for NX.

CT/IS/GS are priced reasonably but RX is above GS in pricing, and when they sell only 450h version, imagine if RX450h was 70k in the US.

^Saw a tinted, black Limited parked outside a restaurant last night...very, very sharp. The wheels on the Limited, while somewhat plain, really pop.

Seven-seat soft-roaders are the first choice for modern families.

Interesting that they criticize the CX-9 as having somewhat dull/lazy driving dynamics. Haven't heard that before. Highlander was the fastest and best handling?

I wonder what, if any, the regional differences are in suspension tuning.

the cx9 might be worth it if they gave like 8000 off msrp. the tranny and engine is very out dated and guzzles a lot of gas. That face lift doesn't fool anyone.

the highlander is the king of the bunch. also the resale on the car is very strong. Everyone wants one. Nobody wan'ts to sell theirs.
